Blues Trade Shattenkirk to Capitals

If the reports are true, I don’t think St. Louis got enough for him. Are they admitting they are not a contender or is the market not there for Shattenkirk? I am baffled if this is all the Blues could get.

  1. What the Hell is St. Louis doing with this one? They just got robbed blind by Washington.

But holy cow is Washington scary now. If you thought Washington was a favourite to win the Cup before, they just got a lot more of a chance with Shattenkirk in the lineup. Washington is all-in this year and they didn't even have to give up a roster player to get one of the best defenseman in the League.

I am dumbfounded that St. Louis would do this. Absolutely dumbfounded.

  2. There has to be more to it… St. Louis must have another trade in mind to fill that hole, cause it's a pretty huge hole. They must feel they needed the extra picks to offload them for a D man… from where I have no idea.

  3. Well it's official and I am so thrilled that my favorite team finally has their #1 defender! Who'll he play with though, Orlov / Carlson? Niskanen?

  4. Are u serious the leafs could of got him if that's what St. Louis wanted for him wtf were they thinking?

  5. shattenkirk is a ufa at the end of the season, the trade was only for a few months, that's why there is no "roster player" in the mix. Armstrong said shattenkirk is open to coming back to the blues after this season. as a blues fan, I hope the caps win this year. st louis has been awful with their management the past few years. they lost Oshie and Backes the last 2 years and lost Brouwer, who was a decent trade for oshie, too. they have no grinders, they have no true captain. they should have made Steen captain at least, he has the heart and tenacity that backes had, Peitrangelo doesn't. I love the blues, but they don't deserve a playoff spot this year.
