Before you come at me, allow me to explain myself: I saw a clip on social media where somebody brought up the idea of possibly trading away Dougie Hamilton. I decided to share my thoughts on the matter. Hamilton has been a big-time contributor for the New Jersey Devils. It’s worth mentioning that Hamilton has a no-movement clause. The NHL recently revealed they might scrap the 2026 all-star game in the wake of 4 Nations’ big success last month.

And wasn’t Dougie traded from every other team at yr 3?
dougie has a 10 team nmc starting at the end of THIS season. so this coming offseason he will submit his 10 team no trade list. that being said, i dont see him being traded. it would only happen if a fairy tale deal came along. aka quinn hughes or brady tkachuk. as i said a fairy tale deal.

Chris Pronger was a 9 million $ defence man, Dougie Hamilton is a 6 million dollar defender at best… because he doesn’t DEFEND!!!

Talking of Dougie, I think Canes are the go to team when building Devils. Canes are picking fast do-it-all players before bigger players and star players… the kinds of Roslovic, Aho etc. It has worked fantastic in Carolina, and they arguably don't even have a Hughes class player in their system.

Yes it is in the best interest to trade Hamilton. I loved his tenure in Jersey but we must make room for the rookies. We have to develop Casey and Nemec as soon as possible instead of putting them in the AHL.
Dougie as a veteran is important in the playoffs, but it's all about the veterans. Even if J.Hughes comes in the playoffs 100%, he still needs more NHL experience to be a real difference maker. The Palat's, Haula's and Tatar's will decide where this team goes in the playoffs.
