Damn, I was right on time!
when the heck is Novak returning….we need him bad now
Hey DK, do you think there is any legitimate hope of Jarry playing his way into off-season trade value? Or, do you think that ship has completely sailed? I can't see him being the starter next year unless out of necessity. I think he needs a fresh start and likely would play better elsewhere if he had the opportunity. The Pens do have good young talented prospects in goal who could potentially steal the crease next year. And even if Ned is the backup, that would help with cap space. JB should be a bit more ready, and there is potential in the minors for someone else to come and steal the show.
Timmons has looked outstanding so far. Dewar has come up big but still can disappear. Timmons doesn't. He is noticeable.
If the kid from Wilkes-Barre had come up the Big Penguins simply would have ruined him the way they ruined the other good kid
We're gonna mess around and make the playoffs…
As a season ticket holder in Wheeling, allow me to say that Sergei is a Great Wall to have in net. His cracks often come in the form of greasy goals in the crease glove side. I thoroughly enjoy watching this young man’s ceiling rise!
Come on man, Dewar and Timmons are bottom 6 players. What you find out is marginal at best. Where are Pickering and Kov? I will say it looks like Tomasino is going to be a good player.
How about do one of these about how bad Malkin is
👻
Am I wrong? I dread a 2 goal lead. – the oh, no 2-0. It always seems to add a lot more suspense. Although people may think to concentrate on defense, I think they need to be a little more dynamic and concentrate on both O and D. We have to score to have a good defense. If we don't score, we don't have a good defense. Kind of like a prevent defense in football.
Tomasino could score 40 next yr if he's with Sid
I've never been to a home game, I still cringe every time I see somebody calling for an intentional tank. I enjoy watching my team win, no matter what the circumstances may be.
Over their last 19 decisions, only six goalies have a better record than Tristan Jarry. By points earned, Hellebuyck 31, Thompson 31, Vasilevskiy 28, Ullmark 27, Picard 26, Woll 26, Jarry 25, Oettinger 25, Kotchetkov 25…. And each one of those teams are significantly better than the penguins.
Jarry was not having an all star season, but he was not that bad either. Management scapegoated him.
Then they should never have messed around with him at the 4 nations break, after they saw the results of their experiment… Jarry was coming off a number one star shutout in Wilkes, and blomqvist already had been bad to that point. And that group of goalie blown winnable games following the break now prove costly.
(Stats above as of March 15)
Also curiously, Jarry does not get one of three stars in Pittsburgh….he has to go on the road for that. Interesting.
It will be classic if he gets an NHL star of the week, but his own home won't give him one for a game.
Bravo DK. Especially on the J1Q!
This draft idc about but next years draft if they suck they better stay sucking
Sorry DK but if I were to guess that those who are so happy in and around the arena are also under the delusion the Pens will somehow make the playoffs. These are not serious people.
And while it's sounds great to make the statement that the Pens should just "scout harder", Dubas has shown very little skill in the talent assessment aspect to this point. That means they need to reduce the amount of guesswork from the draft by getting higher picks when they have the opportunity.
Hey DK, here's my slightly long-winded question submission that sounds more like a word problem: Let's say Jarry's improved play continues and he finishes the season on a strong positive note. He's already over .500 in wins and could finish with over a .900sv%, which COULD theoretically improve his perceived value. Given that premise, would you explore trading him in the off-season since it may now be easier, or decide he's worth riding into next season with?
Hey DK, I had one more question; this one much shorter and to the point: Can we talk about the ascension of McGroarty? Through first ten or so games he barely had any points and looked to be a longer-term project than some of us hoped, and now he's 5th in scoring for the Baby Pens. I'd love to hear your take on him.
LETS GO PENS!!! I hate losing and I don’t care if it ends up being some convoluted victory in whatever twisted sense the draft is considered a victory for some. Watching this team scrap it out and get these wins has been refreshing. We need to capture this vibe and use it all of next season, whatever they’re doing is so fun to watch! Love this team!
The announcer said before the game The Penguins had lost 6 straight at home & 9 out of the last 10 to The Devils. They wouldn't tell The Media anything but certain players in The Pen's locker room were privately sick & tired of being sick & tired of losing to The Devils I'll bet.
I'm really excited about Murashov! He's clearly the future for Pittsburgh. What a steal of a pick in the 4th round. Might be one of the biggest few things Hextall did right haha
You play to win the game. Full stop.
I tweeted you about Sergei back a few months ago, before he went to the Baby Pens the first time. I saw him give up 6 goals in his last game at Wheeling on March 1st and then make an absolute highlight save after giving up those goals. (He was trying to play hero by being way outside of the crease that game because no one was playing worth a hoot in front of him). the next day my 11 year old son and I went to the Penguins Maple Leafs game and I said to my son that Murashov would have won it.
If there's a trade for Jarry that doesn't involve retaining.. yes please. Summer Sunday Fair Weather Warrior. Lets you down big time whenever anything ever matters. Hope someone is foolish enough to take him and Dubas isn't foolish enough to not try and get rid of him
Love watching the Pittsburgh Penguins win. They actually look great ! As far as Jarry goes, He said he wants to be the best and stay with the Penguins. I find that as a good thing, and it shows DK, Now I know he has not been so good in the past, but I feel he has been better. I love the this young man Sergei he looks to be very promising. Thank you DK
The frustrating part of the Penguins winning now is that everyone has been saying all season the team and specifically the defense wasn’t good enough. They waited until after playoffs were likely out of reach to make changes. Losing season and later draft picks keeps you stuck in the middle
I agree 100 percent with the last segment, no one in this draft is worth being bad for. I am not saying there are good players in this draft, but I don't think any of them will be generational talents. Also tanking does indeed have a horrible stench when it comes to losing, see the Buffalo Sabres who last made the playoffs when the Atlanta Thrashers were still an NHL Franchise and the Arizona Coyotes existed and were called the Phoenix Coyotes.
Now next year's draft, there is a potential generational talent that is worth getting the 1st overall pick for, and that is Gavin McKenna from the WHL's Medicine Hat Tigers. I've seen his highlights, that kid has the Crosby-McDavid and even Bedard type of hype.
Maybe the Pens should just take 7 or 8 of those picks and get Bedard out of Chicago before he washes out. Joking of course, Chicago will let him die there before they traded him.
I both agree and disagree with DK.
If you have a future arguably top 10 of all time player available in the draft, it's worth considering tanking. However, tanking for the sake of tanking could lead to bad habits and is not the way to go.
It would be better to rest the veteran/banged up players and play the youth to see what you have, even if that means playing with a weaker roster and increasing your odds of losing.
What if he wins a few meaningless games and we have to endure another year of jarry dragging this team down? Oh and at the same time we move out of the draft lottery. Thats whats happening right now
