On today’s episode of Locked On Stars, Joey Erickson and Stars fans everywhere can all exhale after a 4-3 overtime win over the Anaheim Ducks. Mikael Granlund scored twice including the OT winner for his 600th career point and Thomas Harley excelled with a three point night to lead Dallas to victory. Joey gives his breakdown of what we saw from the Stars in the first segment and how Dallas has reverted back to some of their issues earlier in the season defensively. He also discusses Jake Oettinger who was shaky at points but came up with timely saves late to keep Dallas in the game after the Stars tied the game at three. In the final segment, Joey highlights the 4th line for Dallas and how productive they have been even during this rough stretch.

We were lucky. Against a bottom feeder. 2 wins in 5 games… ugh… we’re going backwards. Not forwards. I know, a controversial take. Please inform me how stupid I am and how I don’t know any Th ing about hockey and I don’t deserve to comment on this page. Please.
Otter stepped up against the Ducks, hooray! Lets see that vs the Avs, Vegas, Oil, or the Jets…..
Still 3 goals on the first 17 shots by Otter twice giving up a lead and this was against the Ducks. I'm sorry but his play has given me nightmares about a one and done playoff knowing Miro most likely won't be back for the 1st round. This team literally gets forechecked into submission nearly every game and the defensive mistakes are still prevalent and consistent. If they can't beat a top team on the road they can't win a cup. They're unbeaten against Colorado and the Jets AT HOME but winless on the road. They're 4-13 on the road vs the Jets, Avs, Caps, Knights, Wild, Hurricanes, Maple Leafs, Kings, Oilers, Panthers, Lightning and Senators. They're just 2-8 against The Jets, Avs, Wild, Oilers and Caps and Knights. But they're 7-3 at home against all these teams. Otter is just flat out bad on the road against the top teams and has been for most his career.
Did the ref get a new whistle or something in this game? What was up with those calls?!
Why is it that the stars seem to play like they are playing down man 5 on 4 whenever they play a really good team like the last game against the jets? It pisses me off that we then play aggressively against a team like the ducks.
Why are we celebrating this win? They were struggling against a bottom feeder. Stanley Cup contenders shouldn’t struggle against bottom feeders.

When they traded for Rantanen instead of defense, I thought to myself, they're going to have to outscore their defensive issues. We haven't really seen it yet. I want to see Dallas put some 5s, 6s, and 7s on the scoreboard in regulation.
Better passing would help too. A lot of times our passes are to no one. We pass to areas of the ice, not to individuals
The Stars are the #1 transition team in the league (in terms of expected goals). The forwards are supposed to break out of the zone early if there’s an opportunity – that’s how the system is set up. (It isn’t their fault if the defensemen then turn the puck over whilst they are breaking out of the zone.) But what you’re blaming the forwards for – early breakouts -, is not on them, that’s just how the system is designed, as it’s supposed to allow them to get out in transition. If an adjustment needs to be made, that has to come from the coaching staff, not the individuals forwards on the ice, who are playing how they are supposed to, based on the system design.
