  1. Personally I'm a fan of Sully with a few HUGE exceptions.

    1) It's not that he doesn't play younger guys when he can. It's the length of leash they have when they mess up. I would be extremely uncomfortable in that situation.

    2) The line changing…. some is fine but my god. No wonder no one can find any connection. Once again, some is fine and needed.

    3) Call a player out publicly in EXTREME circumstances

P.s. I saw Sid say "when did we change that" on the bench in a recent game. That should not ever happen.

  2. I don’t think Rakell is going anywhere. It’s been reported that the asking price was best prospect and 2 first round picks. That to me says that Dubas will take an outlandish exchange for him but he’s not shopping him around or negotiating. If he has a 30 goal season next year maybe. Otherwise move him and then Dubas has to find three top 6 wingers. When Dubas spoke about Raks in the post trade deadline press conference and the GM show and a spot on Ray and Dregs, it did not come off as “GM Speak”. He has said multiple times, Rakell is necessary to keep the winning culture, he accelerates the contention timeline, his contracts value is immense for this team especially if they hope to sign some UFA’s or RFA’s in the future.

  3. It's important they win at the end of the season so they can get a worst draft pick so that they can be worse in the future. Wait a minute…

  4. I would agree with you guys, regarding Sullivans mindset for young players. It would be different if this team was a Stanley Cup lock and there wasnt room. But its clearly not

  5. I also agree with what someone else said about the line changing. My God! The mixing and matching is insane! I get moving guys around somewhat but let a line cook a bit and DEVELOP chemistry. Not all chemistry is instant

  6. I think karlsson gets traded this summer. I think rak stays around because crosby needs some one to play with and his value is way above his cap hit, especially next season when it goes up.

  7. I have been really impressed by the performance of Tristan Jarry so far since his return to the lineup but Hunter and Patrick I'm curious about your thoughts on the play of Conor Timmins and Connor Dewar since they came to Pittsburgh at the Trade Deadline?

  8. My pushback on Sullivan is all the guys he mentioned were guys he just coached in Wilkes-Barre and with whom he was familiar. All the young guys he put in came up with him. As the time away from Wilkes-Barre stretched out, he stopped playing the younger guys as much, if at all, as his familiarity lessened. Granted are your points of the bare cupboard and quality, but we've seen promising young guys over the years who get the cold shoulder for some unknown reason.

  9. Sidney Crosby in his career agains the NY Islanders has 42 goals, 94 for 136 points in 89 career games. He torches the Islanders in his career.

I'm also stoked about the games in Sweden next year, we shall see what happens over the summer with Karlsson or Rakell but who knows the Penguins potential first round pick could be either Victor Eklund or Anton Frondell, both are Swedish.

Let me ask, do you both think Karlsson and Rakell will opt to play in the IIHF World Championships this coming May? One reason is one of the host cities is Stockholm Sweden, so I could see both of them opting to play since it's unlikely that this team gets to the playoffs.

  10. Sullivan’s comments that he trying to put the lineup out that gives the team the best opportunity to win is ridiculous at this point and should have been called out by Yohe. How is that working out for you, Mike? Fact is they’re not winning so why not give the young guys a lot of opportunities, regardless of

  11. Someone needs to find the statistic on how many GD-effin times these gutless Penguins have blown a third period lead to these overrated Cupless-since-1983 ugly-a-jersey-wearing Islanders. Seriously.

  12. As far as the commentary about Sully goes from you guys, I feel the truth is in the middle. The Pens prospect cupboard has been bare for several years now because they traded away so many picks and prospects. We did potentially inflate some of those picks guys like Poulin and Puustinen. However I also think Sully has no patience for those young players. One mistake, press box for the rest of the game. Meanwhile, he’d continually play guys like Nieto and Acciari despite their ineffectiveness. His handling of Jesse Pulijarivi is a prime example of that.
