my 2 cents. The Rangers have been a great offense and special teams with the best goalie and average defense. That got us a game or 2 away from the Finals the last 2 years. We went through a long spell this year where we were not scoring like normal and everyone freaked out and now instead of being a great offense and outscoring everyone, no one knows what the heck we are. Get back to attack Hockey that's what our main guys are good at and let's outscore everyone again. If you go down this defense first route it will take years to rebuild a contender.

Unless regular season champs banners are what your after Drury has been an abject failure ,we've had multiple top 10 picks all squandered , his acquisitions barring 1 or 2 are all failures gone or scratched , Drury failed the rebuild and shouldn't have the reigns to fail a second.
Laughiolette should have been fired long ago. It's irrelevant what he did in the past. Other teams know that the way to beat the Rangers is to fire the puck in & apply a heavy forecheck, not allowing the Rangers to break out cleanly & limiting the offense. The D-zone man on man concept is like applying the Keystone Kops method to defense with players skating around like headless chickens trying to cover ever moving targets. D men out of position results in easy front of the net goals. Instead of players having an open focus, focus is narrowed by too much puck watching & players arriving at their coverage too late. The opposite is true at the other end with a weak forecheck in the 1-3-1, and D men often penetrating too far & getting trapped in the O-zone if there is a turn over & giving up deadly odd man breaks.
If not fired at the end of the season, Laviolette and staff might be given the first 20 games next season to prove themselves. In hindsight they gave veterans too long a leash without scratches or demotions. Vets never stepped-up, even after turning over the roster.
Drury needs to take his fair share of credit for this year’s failure.

Coach continually looks like a dad who has no idea what to do about kids that cut class, play video games all day, do drugs in the house, and won't look for jobs.
We have a defense coach in the Hall of Fame – – – running a defense unworthy of the name.
We have a GM who traded well lately – but only after destroying morale.
This season's a goner – team has no heart, no drive, no need to win.
Fire the GM, head coach and all the assistants. Then ship out the players who are spent, lazy or don't give 100% effort.
