Dickinson hit on Chytil – Tough Call Recommendation

Jason Dickinson hit Filip Chytil into the boards from behind. There was no penalty called on the play. I think the Department of Player Safety should still punish this poor choice by Dickinson, but I have my doubts they will.

  1. there is no reason for the hit even in your example at 1:00. The player has already passed the puck, so there is no purpose in the hit except to injure.

  2. Eeeh? That’s very bad hit. Boarding major/checking from behind on a defenseless player. Unbeliavable if no call in the game?

  3. Dammmm. I don't like this check. As a NY Rangers fan we all are concerned for our former player. Chytil has a history of concussions so we are always concerned for his health now and in the future. Wish him fast health.

  4. I was thinking minutes before this how Chytil’s skating style often would try to deceive the other team, and his head is always focused on the play, his body never square leaving his neck loose and more vulnerable for it to snap back like it did, and the fact he’s had these problems before, it was very unfortunate. i play hockey and while im tiny and bear league depth forward, i also have a similar issue and tend to be quite injury prone

  5. Dickenson also did a similar hit to pettersson as well as celebrini the previous game, none were penalized. Guy needs to be taught a lesson.

  6. Mate what? Did you see Dickinson ELEVATE into Chytil's numbers? How is that not malicious intent to injure?

"He might turn his chest toward me" is not a justification for making this non-malilcious (in my opinion)

  7. AND WHERE WERE THE 4 OFFICIALS – NO CALL_ WHAT???? – On the numbers .. REALLY…. Where the hell were the 4 of them LOOKING … 😎

  8. Bull dukey why didn't a single Vancouver player step and challenge dickface when he had the chance, plus, plus not one of his teammates went to help Filip to his feet. Now I watched on video where Kiefer fe fi fo fum Sherwood is talking about next year we'll get him and blah blah. Vancouver should have took care of business in real time, I'm not sure what other four players were on the ice at the time, man they sure came up soft.

  9. I think the retaliation hit by hronek on Nazar was dirtier and more dangerous. That was a career ender attempt

  10. its a penalty for sure, but the contact was not aimed at the head… so im not sure why it should be a suspension?

  11. "…Dickinson has no way of knowing which way Chytil is going to rotate…"

But, as you said, Chytil was on his backhand. Even if he only follows through on the pass and doesn't move, he was always going to rotate the way he did. Add in that once he finishes his pass, Slaggart is in front of him. His first thought is going to be to brace himself for the guy he can see.

  12. Here's an idea… go back to 1 ref on the ice for formalities… and put the 2nd ref in a video room and in radio contact with 1st ref. They are always in the way so one fewer body the pros need to navigate the better. Allow ref 2 to communicate PENALTY and ref 1 puts his arm up on behalf. Let Ref 2 negate penalties after review or upgrade them. Let ref 2 let ref 1 know that #?? & #?? are close to coincidentals… give them a warning…. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY… let ref 2 tell ref 1, dude put your arm down, call a penalty you see not one you think because someone fell down. ……….. Penalty or no penalty doesn't help Fil… man I hope he is ok. Time to retire Fil before your life is wrecked. Come back and help develop the Rangers youth players.
