Recap: San Diego Gulls vs Colorado Eagles, 3.14
The San Diego Gulls fell to the Colorado Eagles 3-1 in a hard-fought matchup at Pechanga Arena on Friday night. Ryan Carpenter got the Gulls on the board first, scoring at 8:08 of the opening period off assists from Roland McKeown and Justin Bailey. However, Colorado responded just a few minutes later when Jayson Megna netted the equalizer at 11:53. After a scoreless second period, the Eagles took control early in the third, with Megna striking again just over three minutes in to give Colorado the lead. Chris Wagner added an insurance goal 31 seconds later, sealing the Gulls’ fate. San Diego was unable to capitalize on five power-play opportunities, while Colorado’s penalty kill stood strong throughout the night. Goaltender Oscar Dansk made 21 saves for the Gulls, but Colorado’s Trent Miner stopped 15 of 16 shots to secure the victory.
