It would be better fiscally to just put both of them on waivers and send them to the AHL permanently. They would save approximately $1M per season for each player and that would be similar to a buyout but the term would be shorter. Also, if you, for some reason, needed a body with a heartbeat, They are available. Could their game improve in Bridgeport? Could they help Bridgeport?

If ownership cared more about winning and less about their high-end retail empire, Lou would have been fired years ago. "In Lou we trust" is simply their way to justify ignoring the Isles while reaping the benefits ownership brought them in getting a prime location for their arena, hotel and retail business.
Might as well trade the last guy with any toughness on the team(Mayfield). At least he won't be alone out there anymore. Engvall was just a huge mistake to start with.
Not a massive Lou fan but Lou knew he had options such as Buyout, trade or send down to minors. These would have been considered by Lou. Hopefully Mayfield can be traded for a low pic or he has a bounce back next year. I feel engvall will be a buyout or a waiver wire to minors…

Engvall definitely should b bought out. Mayfield I can’t stand, but can also see someone taking him. He is kind of mobile and has size. Outside of that, he takes dumb penalties, ices the puck to much and is constantly out of position. And will not give u much offensively. Pelech and pulock need to go also.
