With my Scottish background, I was well aware of Applebys achievements as a boxer and knew I had to be on my A game for this fight, especially after seeing how fired up he was at the weigh in.
After both getting a fair share of success in the first seven rounds, I came out of my corner for the 8th and final round, feeling confident I had it in the bag. Starting fast and catching Appleby with some big shots, I noticed he was getting tired so I stepped up a gear to see if I can finish it before the final bell. Catching him around his guard, the hooks were getting fired from both hands, catching him and rocking him to the canvas. Appleby gets up in time for the eight count but the ref had seen enough to wave it off!! Appleby retired from boxing after this fight…
