Ryan Graves scores his first, Penguins win their third in a row!

Ryan Graves finally got on the board for the Penguins as they won their third straight game! Patrick and Hunter begin the show, despite a three-game winning streak, with some of the negative: the penalty kill. As of late, the Penguins’ penalty kill has been a net negative for the team, and they get into the reasons why it has regressed as much as it has and talk about potential solutions. With that out of the way, they talk about how Ryan Graves finally got himself a goal with a pretty nifty shot, Tristan Jarry plays yet another spectacular game, and Crosby is approaching the point-per-game season record. Finally, the Penguins will welcome the New Jersey Devils for a Saturday afternoon game at PPG Paints Arena, they give their keys to victory.

  1. Since trading away doc and the dragon the pp has really regressed to soft. Then add that there are some new guys that aren't familiar with the system and man it's ugly.

  2. I thought the main justification for playing Assucki night in & night out is "he kills penalties". What's he doing out there. I'm convinced he does absolutely nothing for us.

  3. Going for Crosby to get a goal and assist, Jarry to get a shutout, can’t drop him at the moment and as always let’s go pens 🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧

  4. I don't think there is one easy blame for the penalty kill. Since Jan 1 the player with the highest goals against per minute played on the PK is actually Bryan Rust … the opposition's power play is scoring a goal .35 out of every minute he is on the PK. (He's been on the ice for 7 goals against over his last 20 minutes on the PK.) And the worst defenseman is still Pettersson, who was on the ice for 9 goals against over his last 35 minutes of PK time (.26 goals per PK minutes). For comparison's sake, Acciari is .21 out of every minute of his PK time. Considering how effective guys like Rust and Pettersson have been in their careers at killing penalties, and considering that the Pens system has worked with many of these same players in the past (just last year, and even earlier this season) … I am of the opinion that this is more of a confidence thing where things just started going badly, and now they are a shell of themselves on the PK, which is causing them to play too passively.

  5. Jarry is annoying me, I can't even deny it lol. All season he was one of their biggest problems, and now that the playoffs are out of reach and the games are meaningless Jarry is a brick wall all of a sudden. Because of him now the Pens are probably gonna lose their chance at a high pick and still miss the playoffs. Pretty much worst case scenario for this season.

  6. I'm sorry, but they gotta stop winning. I know the lambastings comin', but they do. Maybe someone will take that Jarry contract now hopefully…

  7. If I had 5 minutes with Jarry all I would ask is where in the hell was this goaltending at in that 2021 playoff series against the Islanders? He looks like the goaltender that we saw during the 2021 2022 season when he actually made the All-Star game and was playing in a really high level until he broke his foot against the islanders and hasn’t been the same since. But it’s really nice to see him finding his confidence again.

I also have been impressed with Conor Timmins real solid defender, but he also has a sneaky good shot the way that he picked the corner on that second goal that almost looked like the exact same goal that he scored when he was still with the Toronto Maple Leafs when they played the Penguins here in Pittsburgh a couple of weeks ago. He has a really good shot and I think you potentially consider giving him a qualifying offer this off-season. He would be a perfect bottom pair defenseman

  8. My PK would look like this:

Timmins, Dewer, Lizotte, and probably Hayes. Maybe throw Heinen and Tomasino in there sometimes too. It clearly needs a change.

  9. Graves with a goal then later in the game gets caught out of position and lets toropchenko who had 3 goals all season look like connor mcdavid on his goal. I thought that was lizotte's best game of the season. Should have been 1st star of the night. I know fans knock acciari and he's not getting enough points but he is fearless. Blocks a missile of a slapshot gets stung for a second and jumps right in position to block another one. Dont remember the blues defenseman but that hit acciari put on him looked bone rattling. He doesnt fit this rebuilding penguins team but to me he's fun to watch. Same with imama. Skating around hitting everything that moves. Looking forward to tommy novak returning. He looked decent before getting injured. Want to see what he can do. When he does return, the pens need to scratch bemstrom. I dont dislike the young man but he just doesnt look like he belongs on a nhl roster. Great win and i hope they keep winning even though it is hurting their draft stock
