Compher and Tarasenko blew it on the 2nd goal. This team can’t get over the hump. That’s what happens when you go on a 6th game losing streak at the trade deadline
That was painful to watch and pathetic to endure, you idiots! Where was the defense when Mrazek needed it! Where was our motivation when we won against the Sabres?! Where was our chance for revenge?! If only that stupid puck stayed in the net instead of hitting that damn crossbar! Swiss Cheese Mrazek screws up again.
This team has relied on Larkin, Cat, Raymond, and Kane too much for goals. Cant expect to count on them every game of the season. Theyre burnt out and nobody else on team is capable of stepping in to score. Sure Debrincat scored today but you cant expect our star players to score every game. Tarasenko has been SO disappointing. Ras scores once every 20 games. Defense stands around watching the puck go from one opposing player to another in our own zone. Terrible.
McLellan still hasn't had enough time to clean out the DNA from Lalonde's system that relied on desperate plays to clear the puck out of the defensive zone. Every time we had to bang the puck off the glass or throw it around the boards the Canes were there because they had forced it to go that way. Until this team learns to deal with forechecking, and is willing to make more creative plays for an outlet, we won't be a playoff team. Count how many times Ken said "didn't get it out" tonight. It's like the refused to learn their lesson, but in reality it's just habits that they don't have time to shake off in the middle of a race to the end of the season.

Raymond has disappeared. 8M a year. He hasn't had a goal since before the 4 nations. Totally ridiculous. Yzerman hasn't gotten this team enough help with forwards or on the back end. It shows in these games. I agree with another poster talking about how they still haven't erased many of the bad habits they had under Lalonde.
So many trash commenters in this channel. We were outclassed for two periods of this game. This isn’t Buffalo, incase any of you forgot. This is a playoff caliber team in their own barn. Did you think we were gonna waltz in there and steal two points? Get real.
Pros: physical game, didn’t give up, played a strong third despite getting fed our lunch for nearly two periods, Petr was dialed in.
Cons: no adjustment by coach to tighten wingers up the to the point in the d-zone (seriously, it was obvious the first 10 minutes we needed to adapt and never did), casual play at our own blue line resulting in not getting the puck out, lack of effort along the boards in the ozone leading to odd man battles and loss of possession. Justin Holl. I mean seriously the guy just isn’t NHL caliber anymore.
Happy with the third period effort. Build on that for Sunday… it’s gonna be battle against Vegas.
will we find out after the season that Larkin and Raymond were both seriously hurt during 4 Nations and played injured the entirety of the rest of the season after the break? bc otherwise it's not good.
Simple : Carolina is a very good team ! Wings played hard but sometimes you have to tip your hockey helmet to the other team ! Just keep playing hard and hopefully they can at least get in the playoffs. As a team they have been up and down all year but the playoffs would be great! They are as good as the other wild card teams why not them ? I will never stop saying Steve let them down they needed a little help on D and center and he did NOTHING !
I still think if we were able to trade chariot away to free Spence instead of walman we’d look much better our d-core woulda been Walman-Seider Ed-Jo Gus-Holl Is it perfect definitely not but Walman is miles ahead of Chariot and was one of Seider’s best partners imo
Raymond has disappeared. Goal tending is more than adequate but no help out front. Detroit simply can not clear out the front of the net. Wings have more than enough firepower but the defense is getting horrendous !!! I’m sure all the goalie haters will be crawling outta the woodwork.
Even tho technically the year isn’t chalked yet since we are only 2 points back I think it’s safe to say this season is over the stupid 4 nations bullshit halted our momentum and we haven’t quite found our game back since if Steve is serious about making playoffs next season try to keep most of the offensive core, try to resign Kane if you can love him or hate him he’s been arguably our most consistent player, try to trade Chariot and Holl if you can, I honestly think Talbot and Mrazek are good enough in net for us unless an obvious upgrade is available I say keep petr and cam get a defensive defenseman and a good faceoff taker that should not only help defensively but also on the pk having a defensive minded defenseman and a guy who can win the draws so we have a better chance of not letting the other teams PP set up, I still believe in Todd and a full year with him as HC with the time in the second half of this season to learn how our team plays best and the different personalities and ways to coach these boys I think we can definitely turn this ship around if we just make a few moves to improve the defense we can be a playoff team we just need STEVE YZERMAN to actually do something to help the defense congrats steve you made the offense a lot better now with Kane and cat reuniting and drafting guys like Ray and Kasper now we need a solid veteran or prime defensive defenseman who we can rely on to make the right plays our goaltending I think is good enough till Cossa or Augustine are ready to take over we just need to focus on fixing that defense
