The New York Rangers currently have two prospects who are on fire in the AHL with the Hartford Wolfpack Brennan Othmann and Brett Berard. Both prospects are seemingly NHL-ready but have remained in the AHL for quite some time so we take a look at how the team could clear a spot to call at least one of them up and we check on how they’ve been doing for this entire season so far.

I would like to see both these guys get a shot with the Rangers.
Would a trade be necessary? Couldn't they healthy scratch a couple guys?
The trade that would really help is for a large and tough defenseman.
I don't see Othmann or Berard coming up until after the trade deadline depending on where Rangers sit in the Wild Card race. The two they should replace are Vesey & Kaliyev. Imagine a line of Cullye, Miller & Othmann– that would be a physical pain in the ass line to deal with.
If they trade Othmann, Berard or Laffy. I will not be renewing my seasons for the first time since 1981 when there were actual BLUE SEATS. Othmann should have been bought up last year, but in the very least should have started this season with the Rangers… makes no sense.
My biggest concern is that they don't suffer from sky high expectations from the buzzards in the NY sports media. It's a huge step up from the AHL to the NHL, and I would hate to see them get crushed by unreasonable expectations

Lavi wont go with the young guys while hunting playoffs. Thats an oxymoron to say hey lets move out guys who may not get it done and bring in guys we dont know can do the job. At least, that's what Lavi would say. So the until spots are open, and they add a center Oth and B.B. are going to stay down . At least until rosters expand. These are the Rangers…..they don't seenm to do anything until things go to complete shit. 🏒🍸

if i'm Othmann or Berard I would hope to be traded to a serious team that knows how to manage and develop talent. The Rangers are a graveyard of rookies and prospects.
They need Trent Frederic ! A guy with balls that has an edge . I think he’d fit right in ! LGR!!
