hate to say it, because I like him, but Berube has lost the room. They are tuning him out. They are a team of coach killers. Treliving needs to figure out a way to break the core up, 2 must go. Marner is the easy part.
This team is a joke. No heart no passion = no cup. You gotta play a full 60. Leafs just can’t do that. If we get knocked out first round. Let marner and Jonny walk idgaf. Put that money elsewhere. Bring in guys who have sandpaper and can produce offensively. If we bring back Jonny and marner we basically will have the same team but with less cap space. We have too many players with the same style of play. It doesn’t work and there are 8 years of proof of why it doesn’t work.

I should have bought a lottery ticket. Predicted the exact score including factoring in the EN. Anyway, I'm not mad. As the team captain said, it is what it is. We've been waiting all season for the team to get into gear and play like contenders, but they're always falling short. Older, slower, less responsive… This is not a playoffs-ready team, let alone the Stanley Cup. This team in not going anywhere literally and figuratively and we'll see them run it back next season. Rinse and repeat.

I have always asked the question why was everybody gung ho on Matthews being captain? Why because he's a dangerous goal scorer probably the best? I also don't know why people think because you score the most goals on a team makes you the best player? Matthews is one of my favorites along with Mitch but my personal take is that Mitch is a better player all round because he can score and he can assist and he can play defense but the problem that my two favorite players have is they rely on skill and zero emotion. They may show emotion after scoring a goal but if they look at the rest of the team emotions should be also finishing that check and just showing that you are fighting to win something. I for one was arguing with my best friend since Matthews joined the Toronto Maple Leafs that he should not be captain just because he can score goals because Phil Kessel scored a lot of goals and I heard no one shouting for him to be captain but I was in the minority when it came to him becoming the captain. Matthews should be just left alone to do what he does best which is score goals but I think this is too much on him because look at Johnny, the captain is gone from him and he's having his best year ever as a Toronto Maple Leaf.
At first I used to get mad at all the idol worshiping making Matthew's God or the second coming of I don't know who for Toronto but then I decided to keep quiet and exactly what I thought is what's happening. Yes my boy may be hurt and I'm hoping that's the case but his demeanor says a lot. My favorite all-time Maple Leaf Wendel Clark, that guy will always be to me the ultimate captain for Toronto. That man gave everything when he was out there and when he looked like he was not into the game it was at least the fact that he was hurting and yet he still would hit and fight because he believed in what he was doing. These boys today they want to be like Justin Bieber just be making the millions and going to strip clubs and dance clubs and playing video games or whatever and just making it rain. We need to take hitting out of the game for guys like this to shine. I am so beyond fed up with this team especially my two faves. Mitch comes across like a mama's boy and overall he's my favorite so it hurts when I say that because I used to get into heated arguments with friends over that exact same but now I have to apologize to all of them because Mitch just proved them right. I said watch this will be different and I'm still holding off thinking that maybe these guys figure they are in the playoffs already and they don't want to get hurt and miss the playoffs and then they will switch into another gear come playoffs but then again as I'm saying this here right now, I'm looking at my wife asking her to pinch me and wake me up so I don't continue saying stupidness. But, here's hoping that that fantasy in my head is true. Maybe these boys may be just holding back knowing that they are already in the playoffs, beat up on the soft teams to maintain that they stay in there and by the grace of God almighty, they actually find that they do have a heart and it's not all about how rich they can be so they can hang with Justin Bieber and actually going to another gear and win something because of this team gets blown up, be prepared for at least another 10 years before anything good can happen. We will have the world's record for the longest streak on winning a championship and a record that can or will never ever be broken.

Pretty obvious they were going to lose when 10 minutes before the game, the lines were changed and Matthews, Marner, and Nylander are put on separate lines. Can't get more obvious than a rigged and scripted vegas call. No intelligent person would break Marner and Matthews up. No statistics support any decision made tonight. Hockey has been bought and now controlled.

The one issue I said they had which they will need to add is not a fucking Scott laughton player. We needed more scoring. All season and every post season we can't buy a goal. So they add a dman who can't score and a defensive centre……. WHAT'S THE PLAN HERE. Brock Nelson was available and he lit us up against Colorado. PS. Why isn't Matthews on LTIR, he might as well be.. We'd probably win. If Tkachuk could be, Matthews who had a surgery sure as hl should be.
Can anyone honestly see Matthews leading the team to the finals? Perhaps it’s time to go. The Leafs play ‘right’ without him and have a better record without him.

Morgan Rielly is completely unreliable, defensively. They should sit his overpaid ass in the pressbox for the rest of the season.
Regroup,back to basics, be aware of details, gotta keep pushing, strong at both ends, play 60 minutes, margin of error is so small, get the bounces, it’s a mindset thing, gotta simplify our game, blah,blah,blah,blah,blah…Matthews about as inspiring as the soggy oatmeal I had this morning. Somebody give these guys a shake!

He is right about the urgency and accountability. So… where was the accountability? I saw the core 5 out there for the last 5 minutes. All sucking. Reilly for example should not be on the ice. Matthews and Marner playing perimeter… take a seat. Give someone else that was willing to battle the ice time. Anyone would be better than what we saw tonight.
