The road to Formula 1 is one that is long, arduous, tumultuous, and expensive. This most exclusive of sports becomes increasingly exclusive as you ascend up the ladder, and eventually, you have to use either the power of your lap times, or the power of your chequebook to get to the top. For the first time in 2025, Rawe Ceek is upon us; another year, another season. And with that, another new batch of drivers. As time has gone on, the number of routes available to make it to Formula 1 have dwindled. In the olden days, just being a mechanic who could fix up your own car was enough. But amongst the rookie class of 2025, all of them came through FIA Formula 2 and as a member of a driver academy. As rookies, they are of course, for the most part, yet to experience the thrill of the Formula 1 grid; but today, we’re going to level the playing field a bit, and ignore everything the veteran drivers have done in Formula 1, and look at what all 20 of them did to get here, and rank it: what titles they won, with which teams they won them, how many attempts it took them to win them, and who they beat to get them. Ranking all of them has honestly been very difficult, as they’re all in Formula 1 for a reason, and all have very impressive junior careers; but take this as my explanation and introduction of who is on the 2025 Formula 1 grid, and why. Before we get started though, all the usual things: subscribe to the channel; turn all notifications on, because YouTube is very selective regarding what videos it will and won’t push to you; comment on the video to help engagement and get the algorithm’s attention; and become a channel member for as little as £1 a month. With that out of the way, here is a comprehensive ranking of every 2025 Formula 1 driver’s junior career.

  1. 95% of the grid: Hey we all competed in F2, F3 (Euro), GP2 or GP3 😃

Alonso: laughs in International Formula 3000

  2. Good job Raikkonen has retired, his section would have only covered about 30 seconds.

Petrov would've been cool as well, he started off in off road ice racing and then the Russian Lada cup 😂

  3. Terrible ranking, how does PIASTRI rank so low having been the only driver to win F3 reg, F3 & F2 in a row…… Bortoletto wins F3/F2 in a row and only 12th. Bearman wins nothing and still 15th

  4. Yeah this list is completely voided by the fact you have max in 2nd. You clearly are going by what’s been accomplished along with f1 because if you just take junior careers, there’s no way he’s 2nd. Making it to f2/gp2 should be the bare minimum since it’s literally the next step down from f1.

  5. Shows you got to be pretty good to get to F1 in the modern era

Actually what would be interesting is a comparison between some top championships. Would be cool to see how Indycar, FE and WEC top class compares with F1 in terms of the drivers jnr records.

  6. I am midway through but as always you do an insane amount of work for these videos, they're so well researched and they give more than just stats! It's really a pleasure to watch your videos.

  7. Max should be number one as both Mercedes & Red Bull were interested in signing him while he was in still in F3. If Rosberg/Hamilton didn't have long-term contracts, Max would've signed with them. That's insane.

  8. Along with Ollie winning both the sprint and feature race in Baku, he also got pole in a car with a broken steering column. That doesn’t take skill, that’s not something you can learn, that requires natural talent which Ollie has an insane amount of. I don’t tend to take F2 results how they look on paper because of what Bruno Michel and Mecachrome have done. It’s moments like that which I watch F2 for

  9. always so funny when you think how out of touch sport this truly is. people worth 10s of millions are considered just fairly rich or barely rich enough.

  10. I'm utterly bewildered by your choice of George Russell at 1st. He got obilterated in 2 years straight years by the man who you ranked 18th – I know Prema and funding played a big part in it but I still find that impossible to justify for supposedly the best junior career of any driver on the grid. And sure, he did the GP3 and F2 double but Leclerc (who you ranked 5th) had done exactly the same in the years prior despite being basically the same age, and indeed Leclerc beat Russell in every series that they raced together. I would have put him at 5th at the highest. Particularly surprising you made the choice because it is clearly a very well researched and thought through video.

  11. Very good video but there is still a LOT I disagree on here, Yukis ranking especially. His 2019 campaign is underrated considering how bad Jenzer generally is and how its his first year competing outside of Japan. In 2020 he did finish behind Liam Lawson in the Toyota Racing Series but he was a native New Zealander competing as the reigning champion that year, in F2 he finished 1 point behind 2nd and only 15 behind 1st in only his fourth fulltime single seater campaign and only second one in europe. Definitely a better junior campaign than some drivers higher up.
