You just made me realize the Panthers played chess while Sweeney was flicking around his checkers. They basically made every Bruins fan haaave to root for the panthers through the playoffs so we get that first rounder. I’m gonna be sick all over again 🫠
The return makes sense. Not back until playoffs, 37 year old rental, hand picked FLA as his team of choice, and Sweeney honored that choice. Hurts real bad, but sometimes we need to step back and take the emotion out of it. Will miss Marchy dearly, and hope he comes back to Boston to retire down the road. Will cheer him on if he raises the cup again, and hope to see him make it to the third round — for that first rnd pick!
I can’t man a conditional second round? I’m just so done sure these people are smarter than me but man that was not it. I woulda preferred if he walked tbh I just don’t know what to think rn
Solide vid as usual! Thanks to Joseph, this fucker, for his vicious shot on Marchy smashing our best bargaining chip, we could easily have received a first pick + nhler+ grade A prospect. Grad B+ for Sweeny TDL. Ian dont forget that this year we will pick 100% between 6-10 position and can get a solide prospect like Frondell, Mcqueen or my favorite one Caleb Desnoyers made in Quebec ;). One of these guys could jump quickly into this team and make an impact quickly, go Bs!
Sweeney has thrown so much $#1t at the wall in the last 12 months you can’t even put up a postage stamp in his office. End of last season it was “well, we had to do SOMETHING”. Now this trade deadline it’s “well, we had to do SOMETHING”. There’s a simple reason for this. 9 out of 10 times this approach fails to produce the desired result. But who knows….maybe this time will be different.
Basically confirmed everything during the second period break on ESPN. Emily Kaplan confirmed Marchy wanted more than 2 years, was offered 3 but said the money wasn't up to his value. He went Swayman on them. Also he knows Staff and players in Florida and his family is on the east coast. Also it is possible he goes back to Boston at the end of the season and Boston management said they are open to it. Basically I think he is being allowed a run at the Cup again with Florida and will return to retire as a Bruin. Imo. Think about it, will be a great story and Legacy.
Looking back at this trade deadline, one day later, if Sweeney had stopped before the Martian trade, I would’ve actually said he did an incredible job, and I don’t particularly like him. However, the Marchand trade was an absolute fumble, so I still want him fired at the end of the season.
I equate this with taking Ray Bourque to Arbitration – they short changed Marchy and since he turned down 2×3 they traded him for nothing – Sweeney & Neely can’t be fired fast enough
Watching this after that wacky Lightning shutout. I drowned my sorrows in a clearance sale centennial jersey to complete my three captain jersey collecting streak. Chara, Bergeron, Marchand. Always my Captains.
You know? I'm old enough now that I don't mind rooting for a rival if the B's are out. I'll root for Florida. I wish Paul Maurice was our coach. I wish Bennet, Barkov, Reinhart and Tkachuk were Bruins. I hope Marchand wins another Cup. Good luck to them down there. The real bummer is that we may wait another 5 years to be a real contender again. (I'm recalling the 04-05 seasons here).
Marchy might be back but the problem is the gifting of players to divisional rivals, Carlo to Toronto and Marchy to Florida, overall, good trading if a little difficult to process due to emotions that you have about players.
I'd rather see Marchand in a Habs sweater than on the Panthers. I was prepared to see him go, but not there and not for the NHL equivelant of $500 worth of Dunkin giftcards
Totally agree with your take on all this. We'll root for Florida (ugh!) to make it to the conference finals, and then root for Brad as an individual, but hope FLA gets smashed!
I personally don't think any player on this year's team is/was worth keeping. It would have been nice to have Marchand end his career here, but after putting out all that money for Swayman and E. Lindholm (both of which have been spectacularly dreadful this year), you know they'd have had to do the same for Marchand — long term, big money (for an aging player). Swayman's response to the gutting of the team is rather amusing, seeing as his abysmal performance has been one of the main reasons for the B's downfall, so I really hope Sweeney (if he even has a job at the end of the season) took notice and finds a way to rid themselves of him. I still think that the root cause of all this is "THE CURSE OF JACK EDWARDS." You notice it all fell apart once he retired.
The problem with the NHL draft is outside of the first few picks, the NHL draft is a real crap shoot. Sweeney has proven he is in-effective at drafting well. I think people here in the U.S. think draft picks and they think of the NFL where the % of drafted players making it to the league is significantly higher.
My main frustration with the Marchand trade is that there isn’t a saving grace with it. It’s literally the worst possible situation.
It’s sad Marchand gets traded, BUT maybe it was for a haul? Oh, we got basically nothing. Huh. Well maybe it was to a team I can root for? Oh, it was to the panthers, my least favorite team in the entire league. Well maybe he just wasn’t willing to extend! Oh, he was willing to extend for a decent price…
Anyone defending Don Sweeney's results as GM simply need to have their heads examined as his results have not just been bad, they’ve been brutal
Have the Bruins been playoff winners under Don Sweeney’s tenure as GM? NO!!
After this year, 9 of the last 10 years the Bruins have failed to win more than 1 playoff round going back to 2015, his first year as GM
A decade as GM and the Bruins under Sweeney have won ONE, lousy 2nd round series, ONE
All those regular season wins that Bruins homers scream about…. All won on the backs of the Hall of Fame Core Don Sweeney inherited of:
Bergeron Chara Marchand Pastrnak Rask Krejci and Krug
Anyone notice that as that core he inherited got old, retired or went elsewhere that the team has gone into the absolute toilet talent wise?
As for drafting and developing, there’s not a single GM that has done a worse job at those things than than Don Sweeney ahs
In 10 years Don Sweeney has madd 54 draft picks and to date, only 6 of those players play for the Boston Bruins, SIX!!!
Lauko, Beecher, Poitras, Lohrei McAvoy and Swayman, that’s it
Don Sweeney has made nearly 40, 3rd-7th round draft picks at Forward or Defense since 2015 and when you piss away most of your high draft capital, you have to hit on “some” guys later in the draft…
Total Number of D-Men Sweeney has drafted in rounds 3-7 in 10 years as GM that play or have played for the Boston Bruins?
NO ONE!!!! Not a single D-Man Don Sweeney has ever drafted in rounds 3-7 has played a single shift in the NHL to date
Total Number of Forwards Sweeney has drafted in rounds 3-7 in 10 years as GM that play or have played for the Boston Bruins?
Jacob Lauko (122 NHL games), then it’s Oscar Steen (60 NHL games) and Jonna Koppanen (5 NHL games)
That’s it a 4th liner in Lauko and two nothings
So in a decade of drafting forwards and d-men (nearly 40 draft picks) Sweeney's haul has been nothing at Defense and Jacob Lauko, a player he had to trade for to get back. THESE ARE HORRIBLE RESULTS!!!
And for Bruins Homers who say Don Sweeney hasn’t had enough draft capital or that he hasn’t had enough 1st or 2nd round picks….
Don Sweeney started his tenure as GM with 6, 1st round draft picks and 5, 2nd round draft picks in just his first 3 years as GM
Those 1st round picks were at 13, 14 (twice), 15, 18, and 29 (so not 32nd like Bruins homers like to lie about)
4 of the 6 1st were in the Top 15 and 5 of the 6 1st were in the Top 18
Sorry Bruins Homers, that’s not drafting 32nd every year in the First Round like all of you lie about when trying to to defend your savior Don Sweeney
Of those 11 1st or 2nd round draft picks here’s who is left:
Charlie McAVoy, that’s it. One FN guy
So to review Don Sweeney’s tenure as GM….
He Inherited a Hall of Fame core and a crap to of high draft capital to start his tenure as GM
His teams, after this spring, would have failed to win more than 1 playoff round 9 of his 10 years as GM
The Bruins today posses the NHL’s worst farm system and if it's not the worst, it's 100% in the bottom 5 of the league
Don Sweeney started out with 6, 1st round and 5, 2nd round draft picks in his first 3 years as GM, and all that remains of those high picks is Charlie FN McAvoy
The big club roster has less talent on it than it ever has after 10 years with Don Sweeney as GM and their Farm System is at the bottom of the league as well
No playoff winning, bad big club roster, bad farm system and the team is in Cap Jail every year
These have been Don Sweeney’s results for the Boston Bruins homers as GM.
These also aren’t opinions, this is just what he has achieved, bottom line, end of story. Facts and Stats > Opinions
Keep defending Don Sweeney Bruins Homers
How and why you do this, I’ll never know because it certainly can't be on what he has achieved as GM of this team.
As Don Sweeney's results and his results alone, says that he is fairly terrible at being a GM in the National Hockey League
Honestly love marchand but his heart wasnt in hockey any more just look at the difference in a couple years . Idk i hate sweeney but i really wish we were getting a more immediate return also. I mean even in four nations there were old marchy glimpses. It hurts though cuz he's interwoven into Many years of my life. Pretty much all of adulthood. Stingzzzz
I don’t believe it. Marchy will always be a Bruins. F the corporate. Mad as a hornet. No. No. Can’t look at next year the Bruins playing Florida with our boy. Not worth anything getting back Brad is our boy
So who are the Bruins, just whoever? I am so over this baloney management acting like they are chess pieces. Fans will whether the low and highs of our boys, our men, still be paying fans. I am seething. Lost so many, pushed out. Who are the Bruins? Just a copyrighted shirt label or the men, our boys.

What are the chances of Brad resigning with the bruins this summer low qual ?
It's not the end of an era. The era was already over. The org just hadn't accepted it.

GREAT VIDEO.
All real valid points.
I was just wondering what size the Primegreen 3rd Jersey you are wearing is?
Thanks. 🤙
"Infinity rings" sounds like management buzzword to pump interest for 2028.

Said it on the stream, will say it again:

BRUINS FANS HAVE TO LIVE WITH THE FACT THAT MARCHAND CHOSE TO COME TO FLORIDA
I'm excited for Minton & Zellers! Book on Minton is he's skilled, physical, and plays the game the right way. We needed to rip the band-aid off.
MARCHAND RULES
I personally don't think any player on this year's team is/was worth keeping. It would have been nice to have Marchand end his career here, but after putting out all that money for Swayman and E. Brad is currently the dirtiest player in the league, he’s horrible. Boston is probably very happy.
The problem with the NHL draft is outside of the first few picks, the NHL draft is a real crap shoot. Sweeney has proven he is in-effective at drafting well. I think people here in the U.S. think draft picks and they think of the NFL where the % of drafted players making it to the league is significantly higher.
Nice return…🤭🤭
Can't wait to watch you guys miss the playoffs for the next following years .
F*ck the Bruins.

Marchand's ONLY team he would okay a trade with was Florida, he wanted this, if all plays out, the B's will be getting a 1st round pick.
Curious how many people out there think Marshy gets in the hall without Bergy at his side.
Honestly love marchand but his heart wasnt in hockey any more just look at the difference in a couple years . Idk i hate sweeney but i really wish we were getting a more immediate return also. We can play fantasy crap online, but live men team is a team
I am literally over it. Sweeney traded our Marchy?
No. No. He is our boy
That’s where I am. Switching out players like this we can do online. Fans, kids need their favs. Fans will be lost with this bs and lost
So who are the Bruins, just whoever? I am so over this baloney management acting like they are chess pieces. Fans will whether the low and highs of our boys, our men, still be paying fans. So angry
