Totally agree Larkin is nothing better than a 2nd line center. Hes very inconsistent. Raymond had been a complete dud after the break. Just like last year and the year before and the year before that.

Worst PK in the league hurts a lot. Not sure what a pk specialist cost but a Luke Glendenning or someone like that would help immensely. The 3rd D pairing is also bad, Holl is a pilon. I didnt have high hopes as we re-signed raymond and seider to long contracts and kane got paid. Next year with a better PK and more defensive depth i think detroit makes the playoffs. No big contracts to re-sign gives lots of room for moves and i think the core is ready to start making a run.

I LOVE the Wings, its the only team from any sport I have memorabilia of displayed in my home, the only team I follow the entire calendar year, Yzerman is my favorite player of all time (although his time at GM is starting to erode that place in my headspace rapidly)…. that all said, this team and the Yzerplan is a complete dumpster fire right now….. and perhaps most frustratingly they should be wining games based on the stat lines but all of a sudden they can't put the puck in the net….. and oh boy can they not keep it out of their own. We have no depth down the middle, we have no depth on defense (and we gave away 2 solid D-men while holding on to Holl, Petry, Gustafsson etc. (WTF some of the worst GM'ing I've ever seen **cough cough WALMAN cough cough** how on earth could you be that stupid, my god)), and the goal tending while often left out dry is inconsistent at best and not stealing any games the way they need to. In short, we need improvement EVERYWHERE and after 6yrs of "rebuilding" thats completely unacceptable.
We had a chance to fix some of these issues at the trade deadline and did absolutely nothing… the one move we did make I personally think makes the team WORSE. Yzerman SUCKS at trades and trade deadlines, and he is terrible at offseason free agent signings. So I hold out little hope for offseason improvements. Stevie remains decent at drafting and absolutely excels at signing overpriced middle of the road and/or middle-aged players…. now I hear we have interest in Rust…. ok, he was good up to this point but he's 30 freaking 2 have we not learned this lesson yet? I digress…. kinda…
This season could have been salvaged with a couple key acquisitions, a top 2 center, a shutdown defensemen, etc. but per usual Stevie didnt want to give up anything to make the deals happen… maybe long-term thats a good decision, maybe not. But what Im more concerned with is it demonstrates to the fans that he does not believe in this team and is not supporting its push to get into the post season. Perhaps Ilitch is putting his finger on the scales and forcing Stevie to act this way (or rather not act at all) but the net result is the same and Im past caring for any excuses.
Could I do better / do I know better? No, hell no, but I would absolutely swing for the fences even if it winds up being a pop fly and an easy out and lands my on unemployment – at least I could say I went for it, something the wings seem too timid to do. As an American I suggest a quick fix – relocate this team to a city more befitting its management and performance (with an emphasis on the former)…. Im going to start referring to them as the Buffalo Red Wings…or maybe the Arizona/Utah Wings….. yep thats right I place the Wings dumpster fire right up there with the leagues worst. Im fed up with this mediocrity crap year in and year out, do something, anything…. blow it all up I dont care at this point…. please prove me wrong Stevie, for the love of everything holy let me be wrong
Yzerman has to go..it’s unfortunate but fairy tales don’t always work out. Sucks he ruined his legacy in Detroit. Fans here don’t even like him anymore.
I think my only criticism of Detroit's situation other than the loud mouth parrot fans but others kinda touch on is Even though Detroit needs a 1C and having the cap space for them; Yzerman will never give up the future assets nor does he have the assets to give up to facilitate that kind of a deal with any team and even if they have the cash nobody is looking to willingly come to Detroit right now.
Better pro staff, let the young guys come up. I don't want to see Holl, Petry, Taresenko, Talbot any more. This over-ripining our prospects needs to end. Raymond comes up, kills it. Same with Edvinsson. Same with Soderblom. And Kasper. I bet Danielson and Cossa would shine up here, let's find out!

It’s so down to earth and informative at the same time, and I love that it’s very obvious that you make these videos purely for the love of the game. WAY better than a ton of creators who are more concerned with click bait and dramatizing storylines than just laying out the hard facts in an easy to digest fashion. Keep doing what you’re doing man!

At this point just burn it all down and rebuild the rebuild. Get someone in there that actually cares about putting together a hockey club which is clearly not Yzerman. Year 6 and he still has press conferences where he basically says "Yeah our team sucks. I don't care." Keeping Lalonde as long as he did proves that. Doing NOTHING every season is very upsetting as a fan who wants something to root for…and there is just nothing. Wings are the joke of the league. Larkin is NOT captain material. He's a good 4th line center…look at The Four Nations lol He did great with 4th line minutes. As soon as he got moved up USA lost….

Eight years in a row no playoffs and on the bubble now. I know what that feels like, my team, post lock out missed 10 out of the next 11 seasons – it sucks. Now firast round knock outs and crushing defeats aren't any fun but they are still way better than long no playoffs droughts. Way better
I’m frustrated as a wings fan. Seems like Yzerman doesn’t want to invest in this roster. 3 straight years of no deadline moves, and the last 2 years they’ve been 1 point away. Heading into year 7 with no playoff appearances….
fact that Yzerman did nothing to improve the defense at the trade deadline is a disgrace.
I think people forget that players have to want to come here for one and its a 10yr build so chill .

If you think about it, when the Wings were on the Stanley Cup Run – Stevie Y Wasn't Really the No. 1 Center like he was back in the 80's. It's the same with Larkin.

Yzerman needs to go get Gudas from Ducks using Rasmussen and a number one draft choice and sign Bennett this off season FA. He won’t though.
Everyone laughed at me when I said years ago Detroit should pick up Mathew tkachuk and build around a gritty player like him. Dylan Larkin will never lift the Stanley cup above his head as a red wing captain.
