This show provides a great summary of the Matthews era. You can't expect different results with the dame core year after year…
I've been wanting Sam Bennett in the blue and white ever since his days in Calgary. This might finally be the right time for that to happen as a UFA..if marner leaves, i would try to go after Aaron Ekblad on the back end and Sam Bennett up front. Imagine that, damn it..and then if there's money Left…. Marchand wouldn't be too bad as well…. atleast they would be on our side in the playoffs and we wouldn't have to get tortured by them in a 7 games series anymore lol
I need to lower my expectations. This ain't the team.

The more they change, the more they stay the same. Same core, same issues, soft, lack killer instincts..nothing new here.

Washington Capitals seasons from 2005 on, they never got past the 2nd round until they won the Cup. They lost in the 1st round 3 times and missed the playoffs 3 times there too. Yes, more second round success than the Leafs (6), but they stuck with their core players and finally found the right coach and players. A goalie helps too, by the way. Every loss is an emergency, just stop already.
The only positive from this game was Max Domi. Hopefully, this will jumpstart his season. This is the Max that the team needs going forward.
We just don't got it this year once again. Last three late season measuring stick games against Avs, Vegas and Florida clearly shows it!
I love Bennett's game and not for the headline stuff. He just always goes so hard. Not always dangerous, but relentless and eventually wears you out.
I think marner leaves it's not a BAD thing….I think it gives us a change, away from these soft dudes. Auston annoys me because he is so big, but if rather have a Jamie Benn style of player rather than Auston.

As a Leafs fan I always hope for better but never expect it. And I know we can blame the core 4 but it takes a team to win a cup. They ain't got a championship team from top to bottom. But here's to hope. 🥂

Long time (I mean loooonnngg time) Leafs fan here. Sorry folks but this game made it clear to me. Leafs just don’t have the determination required to compete at the top level in this league. They’re out in the first round. Its not a question of skill, its a question of willingness and desire.

Domi had a couple of good shifts and then took the rest of the night off just like the rest of his teammates!
Leafs lose. Matthews can't elevate his game, Marner stays on the perimeter, Tavares scores a goal, Nylander skates around….stop me if you have heard those before.
These last two games, Marner is in full playoff mode. Won’t battle for pucks and avoids contact.
U guys hate nick Robertson so much. He is going to end up traded to some other teams' top 6 and scoring 40 goals
Leafs don't need Laughton, Minten would have been fine. Carlo is better than nothing but Leafs should have got Seth Jones.
