  1. this was an end of an era. if marchand was healthy, it definitely would have been a better return. i initially heard Carolina was interested. if that was the case, would have been happy if they received one of the first rounders they got from Dallas in the Rantanen deal. with this line up, and a brutal schedule, they are going to be in the first half of the lottery.

  2. FLUCK DON PEEWEE HOCKEY SWEENEY. WHAT AN ASSHOLE
THAT SELLOUT STREEK NEEDS RO END UNTIL SWEENEY IS GONE.
I PUNCHED HOLES IN ABOUT EVERY WALL IN MY HOUSE. SO SWEENEY OWES ME SOME DRYWALL.

  3. Marchand albeit effective is 37 so he will not be part of a future with this club so despite losing him, Frederick, Brazeau, Coyle and Carlo…this is the chance to get a little cap space and start with young guns…it had to happen at some point. Might as well be now

  4. Leaf's fan here. Marchand has 2 fewer goals than Auston Matthews. I realize goals isn't the measuring stick here, but how is it possible that Marchand only merits a 2nd? I mean, who wouldn't want him on their team? Surely they could have demanded so much more.

  5. He was going end of year. Bruins dont have cap space to renew him. Trade him while injured. Open up and allow him to chase a cup. He is still open at end of the year if he is still willing. How is this a bad deal… if he play a percentage of the play off we get a 1st round pick. What is he going for now to June???

  6. I’m nervous about pasta requesting a trade next year if Sweeney doesn’t get a 1st liner to play with him in the offseason

  7. What is wrong with Cam Neely? He continues to let Sweeney ruin this franchise. Fired twin of the best coaches of the last decade and now one of the best players in Bruins history and the league And he’s so good at drafting talent. Not. Sweeney is the one that needs to go. My gosh

  8. Been a fan since the 70's and what I learned is that the Bruins never fail to disappoint.

  9. His injury had to affect his trade value. Otherwise bruins need a 1st rounder for him. Sad to see the team be dismantled but they obviously were not going anywhere with this lineup

  10. I think Marchands injury is more serious than we think. He may not play a game for Florida. He has to play 25% of the playoffs to get the 1st pick. That is what Sweeney just said in his press conference.
I guess Florida was the only team to take a chance on him.

  11. May not be the best return, but it's for a soon to be 37 year old UFA who's injured until the playoffs (or just before). We all love Brad, but he's not the Brad of old.

I think another way to look at this is: Brad probably would not be playing again for the B's this year (since we are not gonna make the playoffs). And there is nothing stopping Brad from re-signing with the B's in the offseason. So a potential 1st round pick and he maybe can be back for us next year?

Also, reverse the trade. Would the B's fans be happy if Sweeny just traded a potential 1st for an injured until the playoffs, two months shy of 37 years old, rental UFA, who might be rusty through the playoffs?

It's not great and I hoped for more, but I don't think it's as bad as many think.

  12. Hey, they also said “You can’t trade”Esposito,Bourque and Thornton, but it happened. The turning point in the last three years was when we traded for Bertuzzi,Orlov and Hathaway. They didn’t sign either player, and got nothing.

  13. If if was Pasta id be begging for a trade to get away from this mess. Sweeney is a pile of trash. If not for Pasta they would have less points then Buffalo. Then we have Neeley stating a momth ago we have a playoff team LMAO YEAH RIGHT

  14. You are overreacting! They needed to blow it up. They needed to move on from Brad. He’s hurt and old and an unrestricted free agent. They needed to move on from Brad. Time to start over. And enough with this captain BS. They’ve traded Orr, Esposito and Bourque, I think it’s okay to trade Marchand. This team sucked and something had to happen.

  15. If this kid was alive in 2000, he would have shat himself all over AOL instant messenger. The trade makes sense, he was no bourque, bergeron, or even chara.

  16. This was going to happen. If the Bruins were not competing for the cup then keep Marchand. Yeah he goes to Florida. It sucks but you’re long overdue for a rebuild. Look at the pens and how they have aging stars and avoiding a rebuild. That’s not going to give you success for the long term. You didn’t get feeced. You just can’t accept a rebuild. Everyone knows that Marchand will always be a Bruin. He will have his jersey retired just like Patrice Bergeron will have his number retired. Sweeney may have had poor decisions but this was the right decision because there is no way they can compete in there division, and if the organization knows that they are not good enough then the only choice would be is to tear it down. Marchand wants to win. He deserves that right to win a cup even when he’s not a Bruin.

  17. I hate this. Its a kick to the nuts. I mean the Panthers? & No return for at least 2 years? Really Donnie? I have to admit I did get a little chuckle seeing a tweet from a Leafs fan saying he thought the days of Marchand killing them in the playoffs were over. Gotta hope Florida at least gets to the 2nd round to maximize the deal and get a 1st. Albeit in 3 years.

  18. Marchand is a rental for Florida, his contract expires after this season. Given that the Bruins are out of a playoff spot, they get a second round pick for nothing. Especially if Brad comes back next season.

  19. You are overacting so bad. You’re mad about a 2nd round pick for an aging Marchand? They were not given you a 1st and he’s not worth it at this stage of his career. Sweeney is doing something that should have been done already and that’s rebuilding.

  20. It’s a fire sale in Boston,I get the rebuild but you need a foundation for any good build, we barely have anything left after today.. we’ll Pasta will be wearing the “C” next game

  21. I AM SAD TO ADMIT DON SWEENY ALONG WITH STEVE YZERMAN ARE THE 2 WORST G.M S IN HOCKEY …IS THERE GOAL TO MAKE THESE TEAM S TURN TO LOSERS…IT TELLS ME THERE MUST HAVE BEEN A PERSONAL PROBLEM…..WHAT A FUCKING DISGRACE ……B RUINS FIRE SWEENY OR IN ANOTHER YEAR WE WILL CALL THEM THE RUINS

  22. Really curious how you can say they traded everyone with value while we still have 2 decent goalies, pasta, geekie, macv, zacha, hampus, and maybe a cpl more. Marchy will be back next season so I don't understand the drama there, we got back some of the youth and picks we lost to get guys like Jager or elias lindholm. Neither of those worked in our favor so get younger, let the leaders lead and and make some impact over the summer. Were fucked this year anyway, when march said hell retire a bruin i believed him, i still believe him

  23. A 2nd round pick (that could turn into a 1st) for a 36 year old free agent who is currently injured. If you can try to not be emotional about the deal I think it’s a good one. Plus your older guys deserve to go to teams that have a chance to go win it all. I don’t know why fans think a deal is better if you send your players away to the bottom of the league, the way I look at it you take care of your guys when the time comes.

  24. The rat only was nice since thety paid him 22 mil a year, before that he ended 3 player careers with cheap shots, he a turd

  25. A second or possibly first for a guy who’s injured and only gonna play a handful of games for Florida is not too bad
