You guys are wild. MTL should never trade Mailloux, his developpement is not slow at all. Looks at his stats. Trading him would be the worst decision this team makes in the last 2 decades.
I’ve been screaming for a 2C forever knowing Dach was better on the wing and not going to cut it.
But DON’T trade Mailloux or Reinbacher!! I’d rather move Hage with picks in a package for a 2C.
For that famous 2nd center, the teams should only look to trade picks, redundant players or dont trade at all and look at the free agent market. It makes no sens to trades our young promising prospect. We are NOT deep at the RD position btw.
Why not try Demidov as 2C?
Mailloux lost a lot of important development time. COVID, legal issues and an injury when he finally joined Knights (OHL). I wouldn’t be too quick to turn him into our next “Ryan McDonagh”.

The decision would be who do you keep Kapenen or Beck .. fowler is a keeper .. Reinbacher is a keeper …
Pierre McGuire has said more than once that this year's draft and next year's draft is weak.. so Montreal should not be shy to trade away draft picks this year and next
I’d love Connor McMichael in Montreal as the 2C. Since Washington is in win now mode & had success reviving Dubois’ career, could you see Reinbacher, Kapanen & Dach landing McMichael? Too much? Not enough? Add a 1st rounder?

Have gone to a few Rocket games this season and Mailloux was a stud on the ice. Roy was barely noticeable. Trading Mailloux would come back to haunt the team.
They will give Kapanen a long look as #2 C before trading him. He was a ppg player as a rookie in the SHL, where the games are low scoring defense first. He has good size, is very good defensively, and strong on faceoffs. Should click with fellow Finn Laine, and perhaps fellow rookie, Demidov. You want a very strong defensive centre between those two.😮
Should have shipped Primeau to Philly for Laughton if they really wanted to show the players they wanted to make the playoffs
Keep Mailloux …he will be a real good d-man . Once he grows up ..!! He is a Two- time AHL ALL-STAR ….Has toughness …has scoring ability …can fight .. is teachable …is a big bodied RT. Just get a real coach in the summer. Trading Mailloux is a mistake. Just like when they traded Kovecivic.
You don't trade Hage,He's going to be great.Just sign Nelson to big numbers over 2 years.Then Hage and others have time to develop over that time,and you don't lose no talent.

A prospect and a 1st to get a 2c then you add in another 1st round pick for salary retention . The biggest issue is who to target , horvat , barzal maybe , would love JT miller , whos going into a rebuild and can move a center

Micheal Hage was born to be a Montreal Canadien…. YOU WOULD BE ABSOLUTELY FUCKING OUT OF YOUR MIND! To trade that kid.. Bro skates like Eichle, Just had an amazing season in the NCAA for his age, Definitely Second Line Center upside, Maybe a 1B upside, His story is heartbreaking but beautiful at the same time, 6’1 kid who could get up to 195+ pounds, For me there is absolutely no way you trade that guy, My Comparison for him is Jack Eichle/Wyatt Johnston in that mold… Micheal Hage should be an untouchable along with Demidov because when he’s ready and you add him on an ELC Hage will be a great player for this team for a long time same with Demidov… If the Habs traded Hage it would be a massive mistake unless they are getting a player who is a solidified 70+ point guy. Fowler, Hage, Demidov are the 3 guys who should be untouchable’s who are not in the NHL yet, You don’t trade any of those 3 players, ABSOLUTELY NOT. Ludicrous.
I tend to listen to the scouts who have watched Fowler live consistently, and they have said he’s a half a season in the AHL away from the NHL… Pierre McGuire has watched this guy live so many times and he’s said he’s special and very close to NHL ready.. So from the guys who have seen him more in person they say, very soon, Not years…

2 firsts (2025&2026), a 2nd, Dach or Anderson, Roy or Mesar. 5 assets for Crosby. By the time Crosby is ready to retire Hage should be ready to step in. Pitt gets a boost for a rebuild. I don't think we should trade assets that we will need to be a competitive team for years to come.
Hit me with your thoughts. Too much? Not enough? All of this hinges on Crosby being willing of course. Look at the lineup with Crosby and Demidov added and the subtractions mentioned. I think the Habs would be a playoff team for sure. Cup contender? Maybe not but at the end of the 25/26 season you improve some positions that you think need it.

Goalies don’t do well in the nhl cause the habs defense is a joke , submissive defense who has no puck control skills , Savard is a mess and should have retired last year , carrier is the worst , matheson has been better but he’s a turn over machine , xhekaj takes the dumbest penalty and Hutson couldn’t fight his way out of a wet paper bag
Hutson is young and the only guy with a transition game so all of his defensive mistakes should be forgiven , plus he’s a rookie , Struble I has been outstanding and gets better every game and his checks are violent but the rest of the defensive core has sucked
Mailloux should be on the team now and Savard should be on a beach in Mexico as he’s always outta position swimming on the ice as if he was the dominator 🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂
All these things aren’t the players fault , it’s the management and the scouting
