I'm gonna say it right now… the Leafs trade deadline and their moves failed them badly. When the deadline passed, this team has been performing so unbelievably poorly ever since. This literally feels like Keefe hockey all over again…

That game was a must win for the Leafs and they got screwed over by the refs. The Panthers only won because of a weak interference call on David Kampf and a horrible roughing call on OEL. That's not a winner

If Toronto faces Tampa in round #1, the outcome is hardly predictable. Both teams are in decline and any of them will be eliminated in round #2

Sloppy in the D. Allowing the panthers to sneak behind too many times. Failing to clear net front. Lapses on the check.
The leafs use up too much energy too quick. They need to learn to play smarter and not harder. To reserve energy for when they get chances, rather than doing extra "fancy" moves.
That lesson right I think is what the Panthers coach has instilled into their team, and is part of their identity which causes them to be such a force to be reckon with.
On paper the leafs have a stanley cup champion team, once they grow out of their bad habits and unite with the best interest of the team in mind, they are unstoppable.
Leafs are in a state of purgatory, not good enough to win it all, not bad enough to rebuild. Huge unmovable contracts and a sense weβll forever be relegated to early playoff exits.
What did we do to deserve this?
Legitimately saw Tie Domi for a few seconds in that scuffle.
Same old team but worse. No shooting. No Matthews. This team is horrible. No spirit. No fight.
Florida played like cup champs
Leafs continue to lose battles along the boards, play poor defensively and give up ay least 3 goals per game. Florida just too good even with two of their best players not in the line up
