Ekman-Larsson goaltender interference – Tough Call Review

Oliver Ekman-Larsson was helped into goaltender Karel Vejmelka. Both of them ended up injured and leaving the game, but Ekman-Larsson still got a minor penalty.

  1. Another brainless call by the officials. It wouldn't be an NHL game if they didn't do this sort of nonsense every 10 mins or so. Brutal.

  2. bs call. I agree with your reasoning 100%. If there was no push, it should be a match penalty for intentionally injuring an opponent or a major or a game misconduct for charging. If he was pushed, it's not a penalty at all. Not some compromise in between.

  3. There needs to be penalties called on players that push an opposing player into their goalie. Maybe an interference call or some other penalty. It's getting ridiculous seeing this type of scenario happening almost all the time.

  4. I agree with your assessment of the play, but just a point of clarification. Karel Vejmelka stayed in the game. Ekmann-Larsson left for the rest of the 2nd and the start if the 3rd, but returned at some point (with at least 15 minutes left in the period).
