Crosby will rightfully retire as a Penguin. However, trade him to the Jets let him finish out with a team that could very well compete for the Stanley Cup. Crosby has done everything he could possibly do with the Pens and the Pens owe him a decent way to head into retirement.

I dont think they are flying by the seat of their pants at all. Watch what Dubas actions are, not what he says. Penguins are in rebuild mode right now. All he's done is get picks and traded players that are UFA for more picks. This team is built to lose and get a high pick.

Crosby chose to come back for this. If he wants to be traded, the team would trade him.

CORE fantasy trades: Crosby to Vancouver for Elias Pettersson. Pens get younger and skilled. JT Miller, 87, and Tocchet go for the Cup. Malkin (50% retained) and Sam Poulin to the Caps for Hendrix Lapierre and Ryan Leonard and a contract, Pens get younger. Geno assists Ovechkin. Letang to Montreal for Logan Mailloux or Arber Xhekaj. Keep EK65 until someone trades for him at a trade deadline 50% retained at the end of his contract. Why? He thrives on crap teams with 1 good offensive defenseman. Trade Rutger McGroarty to the Ducks for Trevor Zegras. Rutger plays with his buddy Cutter on the Ducks. Zegras is the Pens 2nd center. Or Crosby to the Habs for Demidov. ANYWAYS GAVIN MCKENNA HERE WE COME BABY!!! Marcus Pettersson (50% retained) will be traded for an actual asset. Pens will need to replace Pettersson on the left side. Grzylek SUCKS and is worthless. Jarry led the league in shutouts last year playing for a bum club. He actually has value if someone sees it. Elias Pettersson, Trevor Zegras, Lapierre, Leonard, Xhekaj and "Gavin McKenna" + whatever else the Pens get from guys like DOC would instantly be a rebuild from a purposeful FIRE SALE.
best avenue for pens is to trade letang, malkin etc is not for NHL players but draft picks and top prospects in the minors Im 100% against any salary retention , the right deals are out there ! malkin could put a solid contender into the finals . dubas had to know that losing guentzel and his 40 goals would bring the pens down to where they are today .
I have been saying this since it first happened. The moment they signed 71/58/35 to RIDICULOUS contracts they did not deserve, they sealed their fate. Anybody miss Rutherford yet?

Dubas signed Jarry to a 5 year contract at 5,375,000 per year and Karlsson (10 Million for another 4 years, Hayes for 3.6 Million. Compare the decisions made by Dubas and Hextall and you will see Burke and Hextall was actually good. Leafs should trade for Bunting!
