Sabres fan here. Based on results from Sabres trades in recent years, you can expect Cozens to become even much better than he was two years ago and contribute greatly to leading your Sens to their first Stanley Cup championship since 1927. For reference see: Ryan O’Reilly, (Blues); Jack Eichel, (Golden Knights) Sam Reinhart and Kyle Okposo.(Panthers). (Casey Middlestadt didn’t quite get it done for the Avs but he has a new chance with Boston.). 😂😂
Sabres got the better player.
SABRES WON THIS DEAL!
I like the move for Ottawa. A bit of a gamble on Cozens bouncing back to form in a better environment and playing systems hockey, but it is a similar gamble to keep Norris and rely on him to be in the lineup – you can't score 40 in the press box. The 2nd is icing on the cake and expected to be at the top of the round. Norris is the better player on the ice today, but Cozens has the chance to have similar production on the Sens.
JBD and Gilbert are a wash. JBD does have some potential to become a regular NHL D, but is replacement level.
I don't really understand this for Buffalo, unless they are planning to flip Norris in the offseason or they believe they are going to be competing next year.
Cozens game has been terrible the last 2 years. The guy can stay healthy but is a shell of what he did 3 years ago
IF and that's a big IF Norris stays healthy I think the Sabres will be the winner in this deal. this may prove good for both players and only time will tell.
Second round doesn’t usually amount to much .
People say that these guys have never played a meaningful hockey game but if I’m not mistaken the Sabres were 1 point away from the playoffs 2 years ago and along with 7 last year.
I think it is a good move for both guys that are under-performing in their big contracts. Hopefully it will give them both a bit of a jolt of energy and play better.
Cozens had a great first game in Ottawa. One assist and 9 hits
Guys everyone who leaves Buffalo reaches their potential in other teams!
Going to miss Josh but am excited for the new guys
I give Ottawa the edge on this trade but it fells pretty fair to be honest.
Gives both teams a different dynamic in their top six and a fresh start for both guys. Hopefully they can live up to their contracts and thrive in the new environment.
Cozens is a fragile head case who doesn't play defense. Sabres should win the trade just to get out from under that contract. The draft pick is so Ottawa feels better when Cozens collapses.
Cozens has had one good season and immediately regressed. He has been an indecisive, turnover machine all season long. Makes me wonder if some of you actually watched any Sabres games this season. Cozens has failed the eye test just about every single game. Be prepared to watch him consistently overthink and overhandle the puck while he stops moving his feet and allows the defender to close in, ultimately losing the battle for the puck and turning it over.
Cousins hasn't been the same since his face got crushed in vs farabe.
Cozens > Norris. Sens didn't need a Norris type. They need a player who fits their identity of big, physical play. Will help their 5 on 5. Sens win this trade by alot.
