Kind of glad they didn’t, rantanen isn’t really the guy we need
The goaltending situation is tough, I like Pickard as a back up but I've been slowly losing confidence in Skinner. Originally I figured he'd get better over time which may still be the case, he has his good games for sure but he's not consistent and there is a time line for a cup window. The Oilers don't even feel like the same team this year and the Avalanche and Stars are looking primed for a deep cup run.
I do think Walman was a good pick up however, time will show if it actually was.
Sooo…the Holloway and Broberg thing cost us Raantanen.
Guess we will have to settle with Marner
I'd be so down with Marner, but to play with Drai not Mcdavid.
Calling BS on this, not only do the Oilers not have the assets they don't have the cap space and then they'd need more assets to get them to retain. Calling complete BS if it sounds too good to be true then it is.
It also helped that Rantanen's agent is also Drai's..
Marner will be their target this summer.
Almost only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. Stankoven ceiling is higher than both those players

Bowman didn't bother to find some 'wiggle room' to keep excellent complementary players like Holloway and Broberg both of whom were instrumental in the run to the Cup finals. Remember how good Holloway fit in with Draisaitl? Better than who Draisaitl playing with now. Look how well they're doing in St. Louis. Statistics don't like. Sure, it'd be great to have a player like Rantanen on the team, but you also need role players. Adding Rantanen would not be a guarantee of winning the Cup. I like the trades Bowman made but imagine how good this team would be if we still had Holloway and Broberg in the lineup. So, you let your two best young players, both of whom were 1st round draft picks too, leave for nothing. And now a lot of big talk about adding a player like Rantanen. Sure. Not holding my breath. Rather use the money it would take to sign a player like Rantanen on a couple of good players who can add secondary scoring.
