This whole year has not seen the Islanders have a complete roster. When the forwards are hurt, Dobson was playing, and the forwards came back and Dobson gets hurt. The Isles D corps as a whole has been a whack-a-mole of players and it would be a nightmare for anyone back there to "run" the D.
The only thing I'll say in his defense is that he can't seem to find the right partner for him, but he's not worth the money he's asking for. His style of play and assist production is not what the team needs.
We're not too hard on Dobson. It's just that 3 other guys have stepped in and have done a pretty decent job doing Dobson's job at a much lower dollar figure.. We need scoring and Dobson makes the most sense to trade to get a top 6 forward in return. Plus, Dobson's going to want a huge deal from the Islanders and I don't know if he'll be worth the money. The drop off in his play and offensive numbers this season is what sealed his fate in my opinion.
I think Dobson deserves the criticism he gets. Do I think we should give up on him?? No. Is the PP his fault? No. My opinion on giving him a massive deal?? No!! That’s where the problem lies. We shouldn’t give up on him but, how do we keep him but not blow a hole in the Cap? I’d be fine with him taking a 1 or 2 year deal to see what happens. But I know that’s not going to be possible.
Well with 8's weak play and shoddy d criticism is well deserved. And with the long term contract and $$$'s 8 is going to want with cap going up = deal for scoring help.
Sorry but no we’re not guys! He’s a pure liability-this kid gives the puck away consistently, he’s not physical, he just changed agents and he wants 8/9 million a year. I’d pack his bags and take him to the airport myself. He seems like a good kid but he’s not worth 8/9m no way. Whoever lands him, will see how truly bad he is defensively.
Dobson is what he is and that is not a Number 1 D-man. So, they shouldn't pay him as a #1. His value is never going to be higher. Sell now or at the draft. Obtain a top six forward to replacement Nelson.
Keep Dobson and negotiate a contract that makes sense. Dobson is a good player but he’s not a true #1 defenseman. Not at this stage of his career anyway. Pay him like a #2.
No Obson is defense yet thats the worst part of his game. The Isles don’t need more goals they need to stop the opponent. This has been since last year. He goes out and team wins 7/10. Trade him, he is still young and he may actually learn from this.
At 22 and 4 million a year I don’t think we’re being too hard. He’s a fucking multi millionaire and is 22!!!! Comes with the territory man. No to add he isn’t playing worth his contract. I say trade him while the value is still high on him.
