  1. HuGo shows confidence in the team, then lay an egg, can;t even score a goal, maybe 5 scoring chances. I don;t have a big issue with no moves, weren;t getting much form those vets anyway

  2. I wonder what they would have done if they were 10 points back. Dvo, Armia, Savard… maybe Laine and Primeau?

It's almost as if this 5-1-1 stretch actually HURT the rebuild.

  3. Habs are small and soft …. Caufeild … Beck … Kapenen … Hutson …. Struble … Suzuki .. Evans …. In the playoff and last twenty games the bodychecking will increase .. The first 2 rounds statistically the body checking goes up 25 to 40 percent…. Very Big, big, big mistake not getting any large heavy gritty player(s) without selling of the UFA. Habs have 23+ draft picks … Two third rounders would have gotten us Trent Fredrick 6-3/225 pounds……

IMO Habs management is praying that more guys get hurt and we are unable to replace them with equal or better. …. AHL guys are not going to help these last 20 games. ….. I think management wants to finish low in the standings on purpose, to zero in on a top 10 draft pick.

  4. Vote of confidence, and they loose 1-0, not going to cut it, this team needed a slap in the face to say you screwed the pooch before the FN ,should have traded the ufa , except evans

  5. everytime we think how much they need a certain kind of player they do nothing year after year we hope but nothing so i guess we just have to be happy with what we have i ain,t getting better for years to come nobody wants to play here we can,t get a big name interested so we have what we have and thats it they can,t get the big name players never could

  6. I think fans forgot that the goal this year was to be in the mix. We’re in the mix. Why overpay for a player just to try making the playoffs and maybe winning 1 round. Even with a 2C we’re still not a contender.

  7. I'm know some wanted a player but at what price? I trust HuGo to do their thing. So we get in first round, then what after you give up too much to get a 2c.
Stick to the plan. Next year is when we can complain wholeheartedly. Players are developing and others are coming this summer. Relax….year 3 of rebuild is almost done.

  8. Before the season started, they already had 9 picks (two 1rst) in the first 4 rounds. Banked draft choices and a strong Rocket team (with several rookies and young players) is WHY they didn't budge. Too soon, trust the process…and yeah, that's an incredibly difficult message to sell in MTL.

  9. The rebuild has yet to hit NHL ice. We have seen 3 of Hughes prospects so far, Slafkovsky, Hutson and Heineman who was an acquired prospect from the Monahan trade. Xhekaj was signed off the street. Beck has just joined the team. That's pretty much it, 5 Hughes rebuild players on the entire roster, in 3 years.

Dach and Newhook were not Hughes' prospects, they were young pieces acquired for their potential and they remain questionable. Matheson was a straight swap for Petry. Barron was an acquired prospect who didn't make the team and became Carrier for Lehkonen. Kovacevic was basically an older prospect that was traded to make room. Hughes' rebuild prospects are coming. Demidov and Reinbacher will play soon with potential for Engstrom, Davidson, Florian X, Hage, Sawyer and Thorpe. Next year Hughes will have 3 of his 1st round draft picks on the roster, all of them top 5 picks or better. Hutson is easily a top 10 in a redraft. The team will change as the Hughes rebuild goes up to 7 players and likely higher.

The rest belong to Bergevin of which some are important like Suzuki, Caufield, Guhle and Dobes, maybe Mailloux, Roy, Kapanen, Tuch. The Hughes' team isn't here yet because they are still developing. It is not something that can be fixed with a trade for a 2nd line centre. Moves like that tend to blow up a rebuild. Hughes will only trade what he doesn't need. I doubt he will give up a promising prospect who fits into the future. Laine cost Hughes a Bergevin prospect. Take your pick, Harris or Hutson? This year's draft is important, they aren't near finished building.

  10. I'm perfectly fine with the Habs doing nothing. They have one of the best recruitment team in the league so I am sure they made their homework. We are not to tell them how to do their work.

  11. Reclamation projects almost always fail. Never trade to players with physical injuries or mental issues. Laine will continue to disappoint, just like Dach.

  12. 1st things 1st , a GM should never publicaly say his team is not trying to win a cup this year especially when they are in a playoff race …2ndly if hughes was not making a trade to help the team now , he should not be holding on to Armia nor savard , they are both shitty . I was at the flames habs game 4 rows behind the bench and they were flat as flat can be all because their GM did nothing to reward them for playing hard and being in a playoff race…im not saying sell out for a rental but they could of made a trade for a 22 to 25 yr old center that is under team control that helps now and for the next 5plus years ..if not then they should of collected assets to package later for a 2c

  13. No doubts in my mind, Dach will never be a good center. He light be a very effective winger, but that remains to be seen.
