  1. Okay so we trade Brock Nelson and really got nothing because in our history how many 1st and 2nd round draft picks ever work out for us or we use the picks and get some aging broken down player. I already hear that immortal word rebuilding. Remember guys the new building was going to bring all the big names while in Ranger country!!! While we left a perfectly good building that could have had the same upgrades the Garden had and would have been Nassau/ Suffolk friendly. We never have enough cap space somehow, yet all of these other teams just keep filling up their teams with top players a. k.a Toronto, Pittsburgh, Rangers, Panthers, Lightning who seemingly have never ending money and very deep pockets.Still paying off Dipietro another good player "NOT" lmao. This trade reminds me of Matt Molson another 30 goal scorer traded him and got nothing. I just seen another Lou lie today that things are going to change, the only way things change Lou is if you go. I have never seen a professional team make so many managerial and owner mistakes and survive. Think of the long line of GM and coach debacles this franchise has had. No I just see more torture for us fans. Some of the best fans who stuck with them all of this time only to keep being kicked right in the behind while being told all of these lies.

  2. Why, out of nowhere, does Malkin fly all the way from London to CA instead of waiting until end of this week and meet LL in NY? Unless there is something urgently wrong. The season ticket auto renewal date is coming up shortly and my guess is that renewals are way down and Malkin wants to know from Lou what's the rebuild plan.

  3. Gil's always right. I watched Sweet Lou's interview too. He was asked point blank about a rebuild and basically said it is not what he does because it could take ten years…That right there tells you that they are banking on making the playoffs. He'll make the same minor adjustments in the off season he does every year and we'll be talking about this again. It's completely frustrating as a fan. They looked absolutely flat against the Ducks and barely beat the Sharks if not for Sorokin. The Penalty Kill is atrocious. The Power Play is mostly non existent at times. It just blows me away how these people keep their jobs. McLean should go and so should Albelin. I love Roy and don't think he's the problem but you can tell he's frustrated too. We definitely missed an opportunity to get picks and prospects while shedding cap too. I almost hope they don't make the playoffs now just to prove Lou wrong.

  4. Lou NEEDS to go, Draft picks for Palmeri would have been fine, we need to restock the Farm Team, bring up the players in their mid- twenties and see if they can step up. Holmstrom is the perfect example of someone getting way better with regular playing time on the big club. We have some talent down there, let's give them a chance, we're not ready for contending for the Cup.

  5. Keeping Martin over Johnaton when Martin was already washed up was pure politics, just like signing him this year. Lou wants to be beloved by Martin's Father-in-law & his.media friends. DUMB

  6. One of the biggest problems is Lou giving all these average players no move clauses that’s supposed to be reserved for the superstar player not just anybody he greatly ties your hands

  7. Same old w one L one isles so expect a loser pt. vs. la and even 1-1-1 trip for isles. And now with tdl pressure off watch isles compete for last w c spot now 4-5 pts. out as louzer still wants playoffs and sabotages a much needed top 5 pick as well. And what could have been a tdl win turned into a loss according to some experts as louzer failed to cash in on 21 for more futures like a good prospect and pick.
30 saves isles bacon way too much. And how nice for $4 mil. man 11 to show up in win vs. sj even tho isle pk which moved up to 29 showed its ugly head again over weekend games. Tired of seeing 18 back in line-up only to contribute a – in two games. Now you wonder if roy really wants to come back to coach this team and has louzer done enough to convince roy to stay which is a big fat NO. Hab job should be opening after season.

  8. Lou suck and we suck too ,he make me hate hockey can't believe but I don't watch it any more😮 anyway LGI

  9. My sense is that Malkin left Paris during the middle of Fashion Week to tell Lou he wants and expects changes. Malkin is forcing Lous hand here. Whether we are talking Anderson Lee or JPG or Kyle P the time to get younger and more skilled was now. In what world is ex islanders anthony beauvillier worth a 2nd rd pick

  10. They need to bring in a gm with a different vision, Lou is old and his style is old. What he needs to do is retire and relax. But this organization has been backwards for many years.

  11. Thanks Gil. Love your reference to the definition of insanity. I didn’t see the interview, but off of your report it certainly seems like what Lou is saying & what Lou is doing does not mesh.

  12. I won’t hold my breath. With Lou at the wheel changes means a 7 year no trade clause contract for Palmeri and signing another 35 yr old fourth liner. I trust him like I’d trust a 7 yr old driving my car.

  13. Circling the drain unfortunately. Agree with others. He’s not changing anything. Nelson could have stayed. Lou didn’t want to move him.

  14. Amazing that 99 percent of the hockey world agrees with you and the one percent (Lou) just doesn’t see it. I’d love to know what he sees. As I said if Lou is here next season, all my islanders stuff will be packed away in my closet.

  15. Like you said Gil Lou made no sense, he said he wants to get younger and change but if he had it his way he wanted to resign a 34 and 33 year old to extensions! I don’t trust him at all guybhas lost it

  16. Lou’s demise started with end of his Devils tenure. He has never figured out Cap management. Overpays. Gives out too many no trades. Actually the much maligned Garth Snow had drafted and traded pretty well. The coming of Barry Trotz was the needed Chef at the time to blend the ingredients. But Lou refused to see the deteriorating group and changed coaches instead. Roy has no chance to get a consistent effort out of this rapidly aging group.

  17. Lou is FoS. He has no ability to mange these assets. Resigning 30 year olds contradicts everything he said. I hope KP walks for free at this point. I refuse to watch this product until I see substantial changes that he is incapable of making. I'll always tune in to certain Isles podcasts, but the product doesn't deserve anyone's attention or money.

  18. Good 🌄 Gil. How are you? Lou Lamoriello said that there's going to be changes this summer ☀️. Of course, I'll believe it when I actually 👀 it. He didn't want to trade Brock Nelso, but at the same ⏲️, he renigotiated Kyle Palmieri's contract. You're right, Gil, Lamoriello should've done more, AND HE KNOWS IT. You're right about something else, player gets older, their numbers take a hit, they take longer to recover from injuries, and their speed is gone. Not every player can play until their in their 50's like Gordie OR Jaromir Jagr. The Islanders looked terrible 10 minutes into the game, and if it weren't for Ilya Sorokin, it would've been worse. Hero, Anthony DuClair for scoring, Ilya Sorokin for 38 saves, JG Pageou for 3 points. 🐐, the PK again. Matt Martin won't be joining the 1,000 club this season. Saturday 🌙 game against the 🦈 was an ugly turned 👍 win. The game last 🌙 game at Disneyland against the🦆, the Islanders were FLAT, FLAT, and FLAT from beginning to end. They looked like Mickey 🐁 out there. Hero, Tony D'Angelo, for scoring the only goal, Marcus Hogberg, for making sure they didn't get shut out. 🐐, COMMUNITY EFFORT, especially on the PK. I, too, would've been 😅 with a loser point. HAPPY 🎂, ANDY SUTTON. He scored a goal in a SO win against the 🌀. Hear from you later, Gil, but before I go share something with you from one Mets fan to another, the Mets had a fan who had signs one sign in particular during the Cinderella run said "METS #1, then when he turned it around, it said ISLANDERS #1. Also, when ⌚️ Game 6 of the 80 Finals, I noticed that the Mets had a game at Shea Stadium against Atlanta. I wondered if they showed the Islanders some ❤ after they won the Stanley Cup. Also, when Gillies was ⛸️ around the rink with the Stanley Cup, Trots was right behind him, chomping at the bit. Now, LET'S GO, ISLANDERS.

  19. hey owners why don't you give Lou a 3 year extension so it will take him to 90 years old, he could retire with Lee who will be 40……Lou you ruined this team, they are old, slow, unskilled and a boring watch….Now you can fix this by losing the next dozen games a get a high draft pick to KEEP, not to trade…Imagine this Islanders fan we get a legit first rounder like maybe, Porter Martone R/W or Logen Hensler dare i say trade up for a Michael Misa,,,,( never happen), or a James Hagens both centers….Lou act like a real GM and go out and get these players and get Marner or Rentanen as free agents…

  20. Good morning team! Gil, you are absolutely correct with all your Lou talk. I'm glad the owners are speaking with our glorious GM about getting younger and faster. Anyone that didn't know this last year, or honestly, two years ago, is just kidding themselves. In this sellers market, Palms should have been in another trade for the team as well. I don't believe when Lou says more moves are coming. Why let the trade deadline come and go, without making more moves? Honestly, I don't want to make the playoffs, but looking at the rest of our games, I don't think we have the points to make it anyway. Not in the mood for yet another first round exit. Everyone, have a great day! See you all again tomorrow. Until then.. Let's Go Islanders!!

  21. Gm Gil. First, last night's performance in Anaheim is indicative of the house Lou built. The Isles did not get better in the short term via the trade deadline. And so there is no reason to believe that Lou will do more than nibble around the edges and continue to invest ie overpay for players who are well past their prime or have never delivered on their promise. A team 4 years removed from real contention should mean that every player should be available for movement. HIs mis management of this team is on par with his tenure with the Leafs. There isn't a player in the league who was playing the last time Lou built a Cup winner. I'd still love to know what the real truth is behind firing Barry Trotz. One final stat to ponder, the Isles are trying to compete with better clubs without 1 player with 30 goals or more.

  22. who wants to trade their young studs for old horses lou?…but to give lou credit….he didn't really want to keep brock at all costs or he wouldve offered five years and got it done….so he did have a limit and recognize that he was aging for once

  23. It's not disappointing, it's disturbing. 😕
Its clear that ownership is clueless about hockey or Luo would have been gone at least by now. Luo didn't want to trade any of the vets, that's clear and proves he is incapable of making a tough decision. 😢 In a sellers market, we kept Palmeri & Pageau. 👌

  24. More changes in the off season well that change should be him getting on a Boat and heading out to Sea 🌊 So Happy for Brock he looked awesome in his 1st game he could of gotten rid of so many bad contracts, Leafs would had taken Mayfield, Kings wanted Palmari, I could go on lol, thanks Gil !!! LGI !!!!

  25. Last nights lineup was utterly embarrassing. In our organization the best option we have as our 4th line Center is a newly added Defenseman?? We got dominated by an average team. Worse yet, it didn’t look like we were even trying. Only bright spot was Hogberg. Just hoping for better effort in LA.

  26. I mean what do you expect? Boqvist has to play center? He might be able to go to center. Does have a lot of talent. Reilly is now skating with the team. Bad job by Lou making a trade but leaving this kind of a situation. Meanwhile good for Nelson. Got his first assist and hit a post and his line mate Nitchuskin gets a hat trick. Excited to see how he will do. Meanwhile Rangers got 2 out of only 6 points including blowing a 2 goal lead to Ottawa.

  27. Come on Lou, you've had a good run. But it's time to step aside. You've been there, and done that. What more do you need to achieve?

  28. Greetings Gil. It was a hoot seeing you on the islanders Never Say Die podcast. God guys to be sure, don't always agree but they are right about Lou. The game has passed him by. He didn't want any deals for draft picks? Doesn't he understand that picks can be used as chips in a trade? Looking at last night I don't get why he's so big on this core. Keeping palmari and wanting to keep Brock. We owe Brock a debt of gratitude, he did what Taveras didn't and he'll always remain beloved by the fanbase.

If Barzal is going to be an annual injury issue along with pelech and Pulock. Ducloiar has always been an injury risk. How could he not deal Mayfield? Leafs wanted him? Is he just selfish due to age and throwing the future away on a dream?

  29. Thinking about what you said here Gil….. Yeah, Lou wanting to resign Brock despite an aging core AND having the worst AHL farm team in the league… Maybe its time we part ways with Lou.

  30. Maybe he could have gotten picks for Palmeri, but the overarching problem is that the organization has had a terrible time drafting consistently for 25 years. Yes, they hit on some players, but not consistently enough. With the current iteration of the team, there are too many players with long term contracts that perform well below the AAV value of their salary cap %: Barzal (yes he's been out, so maybe cut him a little slack) $9M, Horvat $8M, Lee $7M, Pulouck $6M, Pelech $5.75M Pageau $5M, Mayfield $3M, Cizikas $3M, Engvall $2M. That's a lot to give for subpar results.
