Thanks Alex for nailing the critical major difference between the defending Stanley Cup champions and the Sabres: "Everyone [on the Florida Panthers] buys in; everyone plays the same way … they play the system to a T, and, ummm, [they have] great goal tending on top of it, it's really hard to best them."
So the logical Q is WHY doesn't everyone in Buffalo "buy in," and WHY don;t they "play the same way" or "play [our] system to a T" ????????? For FAR TOO LONG and through MULTIPLE coaches, we have REPEATEDLY heard that "not everybody" "buys in" and not everybody "plays the same" or "plays the system to a T" … and we KNOW MOST CERTAINLY from repeated player admissions in the losing Sabres locker room for years upon years that "too many people didn't have enough compete/effort" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Those conditions are UNACCEPTABLE OUTRAGES. They are handsomely well paid and the players had damned better well bring their effort and compete every game, and they had damned better well "buy in" and "play the [coach's] system to a T" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And the additional logical Q is this: WHY has GM Kevyn Adams TOLERATED this MALAISE and lack of core effort for so long from so many ?????????????
Seems to me the Sabres nees a NEW GM AND some NEW PLAYERS.
The entire organization needs a rebuild
