Elliot Friedmann is usually right. But… Not always. I'm the one hand Sweeney says he "worked with" Brad to get him to a contender. On the other hand, Friedmann says Brad only insisted on Florida which would've given the Bruins no leverage and explains the return. So either Friedmann is wrong or Sweeney is lying. In any event, Sweeney's performance has had a distinct and negative impact on this team over the course of the last decade. Kim Neely no longer possesses the same cachet that he did when first made president. Not only do we need to re-tool the roster, we need to re-tool the front office. Clearly, there are better choices available as evaluators of talent as well as top management representing the team as an attractive place to play. I had originally held out hope that this would be one of those situations where you rent the player for a couple of months and then re-sign him to bring him home. If Friedmann is right then that is off the table.

Back in February the Bruins offered a 2 yr contract offer. Supposedly Marchand wanted a 3rd yr on that same contract offer. Sweeney went to the owners "who wanted 2 yrs" and went to bat for Marchand. Finally got owners to agree for 3 yrs and Marchand turned it down. After saying he would take same offer per year except a 3 yr. deal. Now he wanted more money after agreeing. Bruins were pissed. Marchand then told management that he'd take only a Panthers in a trade. He is going to be 37 in 8 weeks. As I see it, Bruins had no choice. Especially when they met his 1st contract demands.
Plus his surgery history: 2022 double hip surgery 2024 tendon surgery on his elbow 2024 groin & ab hernia's. In 8 weeks he's 37 yrs old.
Sweeney would rather sign several 3rd and 4th liners than sign the captain

The guy is coming to the end. The bruins traded bobby orr. Its business the bruins did what a business had to do. This is a rebuild if the bruins dont sign big name free agents.

All the trades (apart from Charlie Coyle's) are a dramatic farce. In short, the BRUINS traded top players from the team to receive players from whom we should not expect anything.
For too many years, this management has been multiplying failed trades that have led to the current downgrade of the team. This is neither a confirmation of a rebuild nor a retooling. It is an uncontrolled demolition. Proof x1000 of total incompetence of the BRUINS management (and I include Sacco who was consulted).
It is time for BRUINS fans to react like those of the NFL, MLB and the NBA (see the reaction of Dallas fans against the owner following the incomprehensible trade of Luka Doncic).
This is a string of too much bullshit year after year. We should not be lulled into illusions by the last 4-0 victory against Tampa Bay.
I appeal to the BRUINS fans. At the next game at TD Garden is Tuesday, March 11, 2025 against the Florida Panthers (!!!), stand up, show your displeasure with the current management and don't hesitate to demand: "NEELY, SWEENEY and SACCO, we fire you!"

Everyone needs to stop crying. This is pro sports. Bruins need to spend Marchand type money on a younger team. They had plenty of chances to win the last few years and couldn’t get it done. Brad is aging, It’s over. Swayman choked this season that’s why they missed playoffs.
Sweeney is a yes man to ownership to save his own ass…as he has no prospects anywhere else in the league…I have a hard time hammering Cam…but he has culpability as well.
