He’s a workhorse top 4 dman with some 1D traits, but is not a 1D.
He’ll do well in a stronger more structured Panthers team.
Jones is the kind of player Florida wants. Last season, they took Okposo off of Buffalo, because he was a hungry vet who will fit whatever role they wanted as long as he was on a winning team and I see the same in Jones.

Jones is like Karlsson good offensively bad defensely wouldn't use him as top 4 defense play him on bottom line and power player if not get him to play forward it would improve him

I really enjoyed this breakdown. As a Hawks fan who's had to deal with Jones for the past 4 years, I will say he's not a bad defenseman. However, he is not creative like you said, along with him being selfish on the play more often than not, and yes when has been out, our defense has played significantly better. More activation from them, getting involved on the rush, quicker pace, and to be honest more chemistry. The thing about Seth was he was not worth 9.5 million at all, and he is decisively not a number 1 defenseman. So he got a lot of hate off that, and then he didn't backup his worth on the ice pretty much every season he was here. We're definitely happy he's gone, and our defense since the trade has looked a lot better and so has our team. But he'll be a mediocre d-man for Florida. Nothing like a Hughes, Makar, Werenski, but one that kinda skates by and can contribute when needed but probably still not worth his contract. Which isn't a bad thing, but if we look at who wins this trade, it's the Blackhawks because we kinda committed highway robbery with getting Knight and only retaining 2 mill on Jones' contract.

As a Hawks fan, he's your problem now. Maybe now that he's on a contender, he'll give full effort. When Jones was injured earlier this season the Hawks played better and had a 3 game winning streak during that period. After the trade the Hawks are 2-0-1. The locker room cancer has left the building.
The hawks are 4-0-1 since Seth got traded and look night and day better than when he was on the team. They have not had his many wins and no regulations losses while he was on the team. Dude was a locker room cancer and a selfish player. Good riddance

I had next to no understanding of Jones before this video. Within 2 minutes it's crystal clear why he was acquired.
