The Oil somehow made Oettinger look like an AHL level callup tonight. 5 beauty goals against a great team and great goalie. Excellent game all around and a scary late game push from Dallas to keep this one interesting.
Why doesn't Oettinger even try to make the short side save? The goalies in my beer league have a faster glove.
Ya he's fast and good but that was also just terrible playing by the defenseman and the goalie. Just because a forward skates faster than a defenseman doesn't mean he can just blow by them whenever he wants, the defenseman should always be able to intercept his body and prevent him from getting behind him if he's playing correctly. I see so much TERRIBLE playing, particularly defensively, from NHL players it boggles my mind how these people are supposed to be professionals. So much of hockey and professional sports selectivity just selects for the top 10% tallest of the population over any sort of skill development or actual competency at the game, it's really sad
