In what is more than anything a locker room deal, one of the most beloved Avs ever will join the club for another playoff run. How can you not be happy about that.
The Avs also sent Casey Mittelstadt to Boston in exchange for Charlie Coyle. All in all, it was not only an active trade deadline for the Avs, but an active season of trades. We discuss them all as well as that Mikko move to Dallas.

Colorado is dogwater overtaxed democrat land so mikko will be making 4 million more in Texas even though the contract offers were the same.
This is a completely different team than the one that started the season.

Coyle completes our center depth so well. He is perfect at 3C and adds more maturity and size
I realize that it is the here ad now, but the same was last year. We ended up losing four of the pickups. I'm happy with the additios, but if we don't wi the cup, it's going to be the same thing next year, but without any trading possibilities.
SVD I have a mikko jersey of every jersey he ever wore for the avs. I may be hurt the most by this 😅
With regards to Mikko: Greed from the beginning when I heard that he asked for $14M. You guys are right, now signing for what the Avs offered does not sit well and then Dallas. We will see how good he is without Nate. Dallas will expect a ton from him.

When Mikko left I said I hope he finds success in Carolina, now I hope he enjoys none. I wonder if he hadn't lost faith in the FO when they decided not to make a move in net before the start of the season. There was no love lost between those two

I think there was more business side involved with the Mikko deal. The delay from the rumor till it was announced kinda hosed Carolina because they needed the deal done to know the return to make more trades. I think Mikko was dragging his feet in Colorado because time was a commodity on his side. C-Mac needed answers so he could work on the rest of this team. C-Mac pulled the trigger on the Mikko trade (reportedly blind siding him). I hate to see the guy in green. I also can understand wanting to be in Dallas to constantly show "hey this is what you got rid of" if he maintains his production and success.
As a Bruins fan, I hate to see Coyle go. He is a great character guy, very responsible defensively, and a good face-off guy.
Wow. I am grateful to have a management team that has seen an average team and done SO MANY THINGS to try to improve it. Who knows how the pieces will fit? They will have a lot of chemistry to figure out. But I think their chances of lifting the cup improved by about 100% with the deals this week. 3-4% to 7-8% I would say. The problem is Dallas.

Mikko biffed his deal. It wasnt enough, he got traded. Still thought he could get more. Wasnt happening. He realises he better take what he can get, it happened to he the same as the Avalanche offer. He didnt pick Dallas, thats who was making the offer. I bet he wishes he had stayed or could come back.

Seems like the dollar was more important which I understand but don’t act like you didn’t want to leave then first chance you get you jump into bed with the enemy.
I’ll always appreciate what Mikko did and was for the team but this does leave a sour taste in the mouth
first I was shocked they were able to get Charlie Coyle. And if you don't know who he is, this dude has been a stud in the playoffs and helped Boston win those series. I was so stoked and than we got the word on EJ. HOLY SMOKES! And you know what, it hit me. Maybe this is really it for Landy. I think deep down inside, Gabe is going to try and go in the playoffs and call it quits, if he can't make it. I think this pile up of guys, is to win another one for the Captain.
as far as Mikko goes, I'm just going to call him Judas. He turned down 12.2M from us. Turned down nearly 13M from Carolina. So you think he's just money hungry, but than the Dallas Stars call up Carolina. And he agrees to get traded and sign with them for 12M? Playing on the most hated team in the NHL! He's dead to me. Have fun wearing your puke green sweaters.
One obvious weakness Avalanche has is chemistry. When you flip out half of your roster, it will take some time to get the whole team on the same page. Will it be done by the time things really start to matter? I don't know. But I do know it will take time.

Avs loaded up this trade deadline. Honestly the entire year has had a handful of moves from Colorado. More than what i can remember in recent years. I feel much better about Nelson on that third line at Center. The EJ Move was strictly for Locker Room Moral and someone who is going to keep everyone in Line and keep everyone’s eye on the Prize.
We gave up a good bit for Charlie Coyle but That Colorado front office gave Casey Mittlestadt every chance to accelerate and fit in to what they are trying to do in Denver Colorado and the experience just did not take off and pan out. These moves should help improve this Colorado Avalanche Organization. The entire League is crossing their fingers hoping to see Dallas Vs Colorado in Round 1 of the Playoffs. That series would be epic now after the Mikko trade. Glad to see that Mikko got the contract he was looking for and deserved.

If the play-offs started right now Avs should be playing the Oilers or Wild, instead they would be playing the Stars. It sucks that the NHL isn't a real league but a bracketified collection of franchises.
i legit thought if canes didnt sign mikko he would end up in chicago next year , but meh necas is proving to be 2x the player mikko was for half the price . i just hope cmac doesnt sit on his hands with necas and get along term extension done like now , his number is going up with every game
I don’t know if anyone touched base on this but he was in Mac shadow in Colorado. That could have been a lot of why he wanted a move deep down. It’s like playing with your big brother. Dude wants to make a name for himself away from Mac and Makar. Can’t fault him too much. I still love the moose and will always be the moose.
Won’t lie though. Hate that he went to Dallas. lol. That is my go to when I play NHL in the ps5. Dallas or VGK
While I'll always have a place in my heart for The Moose, Mikko the player is dead to me. When we face the Stars again, we need to play him physical, don't allow him any space and expose his innate occasional clumsiness. Hack and slash and if you can sneak an elbow in here and there, so be it. Mad Mikko isn't like Mad MacK.. he generally doesn't play better when he's frustrated and he'll end up getting a slashing penalty at some point.
