  1. Thank u for this excellent piece of Bruin's history. My kid just got into hockey so we have become a bruins team overnight. Having lived my whole life I never heard of this.

  2. Interesting, this story is similar to the Hershey Bears story. When Milton Hershey wanted to bring a bring a professional sports team to his city he found that the AHL wanted to expand,so he brought a hockey team to town. He originally named them the Hershey B'ars to promote his chocolate bars. When the league caught on,they demanded the nickname to be changed because they didn't want free advertising. So he added an E in hopes people would figure it out and buy his product. They've been the Bears ever since.

  3. Colour scheme is similar to the origin of the "yellow jersey" in cycling. The Tour promoted a sports paper printed on yellow paper L'Auto which became L'Γ‰quipe in 1946

  4. The Bruins original arena still exists too: Matthews Arena. It belongs to Northeastern University.

  5. Beena b’s fan my whole life and NEVER knew we were the first πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ team. Ntm the bruins are a cool name I NEVER knew why existed

  6. Then they lost the Stanley cup finals against the Ottawa senators! πŸ’πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦
