  1. I was expecting another trade after seeing this one. Don't really understand adding a new goalie with all the goalies up and coming and already in the system… I did like Mrazek when he was here before, not sure how much his stats reflect CHI rebuild… Would have loved to see some more of that cap space get used on potentially a depth D and little more output forward.. Would have loved to get Burt back if this is all that was done… I know you can't always get what you want, maybe waiting until deadline is too risky. Would like to have seen a pick up right when Copp was ruled out for the season. I'm not giving up on the plan. Start was rough, some belief came back, and I think I have one more year left in believing in this rebuild potential before I throw in the towel. A lot of potential with the up and coming players and goalies.

  3. Wouldn't be opposed to buying out or retaining some of Tarsenkos contract after this year with how he's played. *Edit, With how he's Shot the puck. Many opportunities, but so many shots center mass of goalie or wide.

  4. this just can’t be the move everyone was waiting for. He said it himself, we are in wildcard contention. why the fuck are we signing a 35 year old duster from the worst team in the league???

  5. "Trades are hard… the market wasn't there for us" I wonder why? Seeing division rivals get really good players that could have helped this team in a big way for nothing close to premium picks and prospects shows that Yzerman likes to stick his head in the sand.

  6. I can't wait for Mrazek to kick butt in net then you hypocrites will bow to his blade. Babies in Detroit i swear.

  7. I wonder how San Jose’s GM is feeling today. Got a 1st and a 2nd for a player who wasn’t even drafted or signed by San Jose. Still waiting for the “fleecing” Yzerman is known for

  8. Some of these fans know absolutely nothing and don't deserve a team to root for. You would think this team was in last place. Some of yall just wait for the bad so you can whine. You think its a fantasy league where you can just pick and grab whom ever you want. I hope some of you fans go away with your miserable attitudes. Keep on building Stevie. Some of us get it.

  9. What kind of questions are these…… where is the “how did this trade make your team better” question. Took another step backwards today. Would have been better to do nothing.

  10. Pretty simple Steve had no faith in the team and did absolutely nothing ,after all the hard work getting back in the race he let them all down , and that’s a shame ! All for nothing ,with some of the players that were moved ! Hopefully they still keep going ! A press conference about a third string goalie embarrassing! Im sure everyone was hoping for help ! Absolutely terrible!

  11. Okay, these comments are ridiculous. A month and a half ago, when the Wings were winning 7 straight games twice and taking it to Winnipeg and Florida, everyone was singing the praises of how good the team was and how the corner was being turned, etc. Now, this team is struggling and everyone is ready to burn it all down. Well, guess what? Its the same damn team! Veleno, Husso, Fischer (unfortunately), these guys were not featuring that much in the lineup night after night. So either Yzerman figured out how to put together good team or he can't do it at all, it can't be both. And, yes, McLellan was a huge addition. Who hired him?? I swear, this is what's wrong with most of Detroit sports. Hit a snag in the road and bandwagon fans jump off and take any progress down with them. I'm not thrilled with every move Yzerman has made but these players and these coaches have proven they have what it takes to win. Yzerman can't play the game for them too. So, yeah, still with you Yzerman. I've seen four Wings Cups and you were a part of all four, I'm in this for the long haul. Big game against the Caps tonight LGRW.

  12. I've been a Wings fan for well over 30 years and Yzerman was the main reason i became a Wings fan. That being said, he hasn't been very good when it comes to UFAs and trades. So many bad signings and bad trades. I didn't expect him to make a big move but to at least improve the team given he didn't do it in the off-season. Mrazek is playing like Husso did…like an AHL player and not only does he do the Hawks a favor by taking him but he gives Veleno for a 35 year old that can't win a faceoff, doesn't PK and doesn't play physical. He addressed 0 team needs today. They needed a true 2nd line center (have needed that since he took over), more physical players with some toughness, a RHD to replace the garbage signing he did with Holl and guys that can kill a damn penalty. None of this is fixed. Instead we get an overpaid AHL goalie the Wings don't need and a washed up old center that can't play center, kill penalties and not physical.

This team was already too soft and he just made it older and softer without improving anything at all. Wings aren't making the playoffs again and they will likely challenge Buffalo for the record if Yzerman is still the GM moving forward since he actually thinks he improved the team today.

  13. Yzerman added a below replacement level goalie, we have two already, who is getting paid like an above replacement level goalie…and there’s still another year on contract left. WTF is this front office doing? Mrazek sucks. You could get better goaltending next year for 1/4 of the cost. Yzerman must have CTE.

  14. All the yzerman hate when the wings lose a few games is comical 😂 expecting to go on a 27 game win streak after 4 nations break is stupidity

  15. Watered down league. Very little to choose from. Standing pat was the only move. He knows there is a slim chance to make the playoffs. No reason to sell the farm for a slim chance. Building through the draft is the only way to develop an nhl team now. The nhl is becoming a very boring product. I’ll keep my Saginaw Spirit tickets.

  16. Stevie is in over his head with these interviews. He gets defensive when challenged. He would appreciate softball questions only from the Wings ombudsman Helene St James.

  17. So basically he didn’t make any big moves cuz he feels we aren’t ready yet he wants to make those moves but only if the teams a cup contender not a playoff contender which makes some sense and giving up multiple picks and prospects for a player that might not even stay on the team is a fair reason to not to make a big move sounds like he still thinks this teams got some growing to do before he’s ready to become a more active buyer and I can somewhat agree he’s still looking ahead to his greater picture and plan of building this team not only into a playoff team but a cup contender and doesn’t think giving up the future he’s tryna build is worth it just to make the playoffs and likely lose in the first round which I can understand too I am mostly on Steve’s side on this our long term success is more important than our short term wishes at this point we are battling for a wildcard not the cup rn so he made a move to try to improve the team without giving up said future so i respect that we’ll see what happens down the stretch I suppose maybe hearing that the GM basically doesn’t think they are good enough to add big names too rn might get them some inspiration to prove him wrong and maybe go on another win streak or maybe it’ll demoralize us and make us fall out faster who knows time will tell
