As a long time canes fan who’s watched every rantanen game since his arrival, I’m relieved the office recognized he wasn’t going to fit well enough in the system to fight for a large long term financial commitment. The Colorado trade has been a big let down. He’s a special player but a better fit somewhere else.

Carolina gave up Necas, Drury, 2025 2nd, 2026 4th and got back Taylor Hall (retained), Stankoven, 2026 1st (DAL), 2027 1st (DAL). With Necas not wanting to re-sign, surely that's a heck of a haul, right?

Logan Stankoven could be a really great player but he might also become Kailer Yamamoto…to give only him up along with draft picks is absolutely mind-blowing 🤯as a Dallas fan. I was thinking if they could get a big forward to play alongside Wyatt Johnson that would be incredible. Didn't honestly think this trade was a possibility. Maybe tomorrow here in the US I'll wake up tmr and we suddenly have a normal President. I would take Bush 41 in a heartbeat.
