Marner didn't "lose his guy", he had two guys. It was Matthews who allowed Stone to move open into the slot and Marner had to try and cover both, which he almost did.

To be somewhat fair to the leafs they've played two home games since Jan 30th (it's March 6th!) and one was on a back to back playing on the road the night before, which wasn't much different than another road game. All teams have to go through parts of their schedule without an extended time at home, and a lot of games in a short timeframe, and it usually ends with that team struggling.

Since i'm feeling generous of heart, i can forgive Reilly for his lacklustre play this year. Two factors that are really affecting him, imo, are being a first time father (no sleep), and secondly (and most importantly!) is his marriage to Tessa Virtue. I mean, even without a new baby, if i was married to her i doubt i'd get any sleep! I mean beautiful, smart, talented, articulate, world travelled, experiences galore, athletic, strong of mind and body, and on and on. To loosely quote Mr. Iverson…"Hockey? Hockey? I mean, we're talking about hockey? I'm married to Tessa effing Virtue and you wanna talk about Hockey?!"
