Habs left Montreal short of 2 players, 1 forward and 1 defenseman for the western trip. They need to acquire a center and a right defenseman.
Get a centre #2 short or mid term until they get their permanent centre #2.
And they need a right defenseman because Guhle is still injured.
Here's my prediction, starting tonight Montreal loses to Edmonton in it, Hughes stays put and Montreal loses the next 3 games and falls out of contention for the wild card position and everyone yells and questions Hughes…. only in Montreal 😂
Habs have 7M in cap space they can use by this deadline to facilitate a deal.
"Long term solutions"
Ever hear of this thing called the draft? You are not getting a quality player long trm unless you want to grossly over pay AND give up assets so it is more like the ANTI long term solution.
You should have confidence in your scouts and drafts to get HQ CHEAP players that you can actually hold on to long term without hurting your budget.MTL has a LOT of holes becuase the entire TEAM is really bad in our own end you can't fix that with 1-2 players because it has been that bad the entire rebuild of 3-4 years.
Draft…draft …draft that is how you build winning team.
IDK if people have paid attention but when MTL was really good their farm team was really good they were trading away 30-40 goal scorers to get more first round picks.MTL's farm team has been pretty bad for a very long time with the occasional decent season but like often happens they let most fo those prospects go and just keep restarting over and over.
Well we FINALLY have a good farm team and with the ability to keep getting better we need stay the course do the rebuild the proper way not the PANIC way.
This summer Hughes should try to get a MAJOR 2C …like Quinton Byfield …if L.A. is considering moving him …!! Once Demidov arrives …you want to provide him with a big talented long term center ..!!
My gut tells me there will be no major HABS trades until the off season.
Montreal has a lot of cards to play many draft picks ,lots of future salary and an up and coming team that will be attractive for free agents
I think your Cozens vs Bennett comparison is really poor as Bennett is proven. Cozens is a 7.1m reclamation project. Really bad take
Bennett has won a cup. He’s proven player with grit I’d rather pay 8.5m possibly more for him than a project at 7.1M
I looked on Google Maps for … "PARTS UNKNOWN" … and got to see a corporate office in Trois Rivieres. … Sorry Marco for the doosh bag vacation.
Great conversations Shaun & Marco
Demidov va changé le canadien, les 2e vont devenir troisièmes. Hage c'est un vole aussi, il arrive.
Tons of teams have a lot of money this summer but where are all the players coming from? It’s still the same small pool of UFA and trade targets.
Salaries are just going to inflate to fill the cap space.
Don't pick up reclamation projects, unless dirt cheap contracts. There's no rush, even if we make the playoffs, how far would we go? There are a lot of UFAs coming….be prudent and load up for next year.
