What to expect from the Seattle Kraken at the Trade Deadline

With the NHL trade deadline on friday here is what to expect from the Seattle Kraken (and also what they just did with a trade while I was editing involving Yanni Gourde and Oliver Bjorkstrand)

  1. Well. They've already made a trade of gourde Bjorkstrand and '26 5th to Tampa for a '26 1st, a '27 1st, Toronto's '25 2nd and forward Michael Eyssimont.

  2. AS always I agree with you all the way. n the No Trade group Dunn, What about going for Petterson up north??? This would be a good time since he is having a bad year. Can you tell us who is scoring for us in the AHL.

  3. Sad to see Yanni and Ollie go. I agree with your possible leaving list. I am curious what direction the team is headed. This season has been one big question mark for me. Brandon Montour has been a beast and great addition. Shane is doing really well, I hope he continues to accel. This off season will show a lot about the plan and whether Seattle is serious about developing towards being a contender.

  4. After trading your 4th and 5th top scorers in franchise history today on a team with a scoring problem for picks in the far future that even if they pan out, a big if, won't likely contribute to the Kraken until the 2030's I don't think the Kraken have anyone who is untradeable; everyone of them will need to be re-signed before your back in a competitive window. Combine that with more trades of the few players who actually put in effort every game and I think Francis is phoning in the rest of the 2020's. We could field an entire team of centers with his draft picks but cannot find someone who can score more than Burky's 6 goals. But instead of retaining your 2nd highest scoring wing or re-signing a high effort Gourde who looked good in the games he played wing to replace him, we instead trade him for picks that won't play for 4 years to never? Owners saying playoffs next year while Francis is building a team that might be ready for our unborn children to watch. I'm beginning to understand why Carolina fired Ron Francis. Truly puzzling.
