LIGHTNING & KRAKEN MAKE A HUGE TRADE: TAMPA BAY OVERPAYS FOR OLIVER BJORKSTRAND & YANNI GOURDE

**Don’t you just love how Frank Seravalli never includes the full details on trades before tweeting them out????

Turns out, the Detroit Red Wings are also retaining money on Yanni Gourde, and are receiving a 4th round pick in 2025 to do so.

Apologies**

  1. Im just glad JBB didn’t touch Geekie or Howard . 2030s will probably be pain but while we have Vasy & co. gotta go for it

  2. Good teams always trade their late first rounders , cause they know it’s worth nothing if you don’t have good scouting , Tampa bay have drafted well and find gems in later rounds , same for Florida , Colorado , Carolina ,vegas ect , vegas only have like 2 players on their team that they actually drafted

Going through the draft to build a team doesn’t work , sure you draft a couple times in the top 5 to get some core players and then you make trades to surround these players , the odds of building a championship team strictly through the draft I doesn’t work

Look at all the congestion in Laval and Montreal , they have more prospects that the room they have for them for the next 10 years

Since 2015 , outta every players drafted between the 3rd and 7th round in Montreal , the only players who made it ? Pezzetta and Dobes . So basically picks after the 2nd rounds are worthless

  3. what a ridiculous over pay for 2 mid players lol

and why is yzerman out here eating money to help other playoff teams when he's team is 1 point outside the playoffs 😂

  4. Kraken got fleeced. Gourde is the heart and soul of the team, very popular with both fans and players. He, with Tanev, is also one of the few Kraken that always play with full effort and his absence will be noticed on a team that rarely looks like they care as much as the opposing team. Bjork is their 2nd top consistent scoring forward, and the single best trade acquisition of Ron Francis with the Kraken. With McCann disappearing lately this is gonna hurt a team that struggles to even put up enough goals to win despite a great game from their goaltender. Late 1st rounders are almost meaningless to an organization whose ownership has declared that the team should be in the playoffs next year and I doubt the fans have the patience to wait 4 to 5 years for those guys to contribute assuming that Francis doesn't blow the picks. They are going to struggle to get players that can even replace these guys with those first rounders and the Lightning know this.

  5. It's not a huge overpay because Toronto's second will be close to the 60s and tampa's firsts will be in the twenties

  6. If Seattle uses those pics in the draft it will be a long haul, but if they barter them later for free agents they might do something useful. Essymont is an 8 1/2 minutes per game player. I don't see him being around long. Tampa wins this one…………for now, but we'll see what the Kraken do with it.

  7. Tampa needed a right handed 6th forward. Got one. Tampa needed a physical 3rd line forward who can get 15+ goals. They got one. The picks and Mikey don’t matter much. Mikey has been brutal this year. The 1sts are going to be 22-32. The only issue I have as a Tampa fan is I would have preferred to get someone younger than yanni. But he will be good and we can sign at a lower cap hit next year.

  8. Not a single Tampa fan is doubting Julian. It’s all just noise and jealousy. So damn happy Yanni is coming home! And welcome to Tampa Oliver. This trade will be the best thing to ever happen to you. ⚡️
