Kirby Dach is out for the season…again. Dach hasn’t had an easy time in the NHL and it certainly has not been easy with the Montreal Canadiens. Shaun Starr and Marco D’Amico wonder what Dach’s future with Montreal will look like and is it time for the Montreal Canadiens to try someone else at 2C?

  1. Move on from Dach or the very least move him to the wing. We should also pay close attention to Ghule,he seems to be following the injury pattern of Dach. If Ghule comes back and gets re injured then i would move him quickly.

  2. He's a very good nothing. He is injury prone, not good at faceoffs, his point production is below par. Montreal needs to move on from him period. Buy him out, trade him and retain half of his salary do something but get him out of a HABS jersey.

  3. While he still could turn into a great player.. He just hasn't
shown enough in his time here.. And the guy is a wine glass.. I like him.I think he has some upside, But we have to move on..

  4. Dach needs be moved back to wing or at least dropped to third or 4th line. Habs should pursue Brock Nelson from Islanders, for Center.

  5. How long are you supposed to wait for Dach to come back? He is injury prone. He did not come back this year. Do you expect he will come back next year?

  6. Next year, his last year of his contract, if I'm not mistaken , he we'll be on a short leash, I give him about twenty games into the 2026 season To see what transpires in his recovery. If he doesn't show any promising potential of becoming that power forward or Second line center or right winger, The rumor Mills will start all over again. As its now with Jake, Evans
    about trading him.
I would seriously look for a trade between Montreal and Buffalo for cousins.or. Go and make an offer if possible for Quinton Byfield 6"5 225lbs Rumors has it that he might be available.Gotta start kicking the tires before you start to roll..

  7. Dach would have to go on a run of two years of no injuries and producing before you could trade him. All to stay, I'm happy Hughes took a chance but we need another top 6 center.
Ghule is prone to injury. Some might not seem to be his fault but one thing 200lbs at 6'3" is too skinny and he's going to lose a lot of value if he gets more injuries after this one.
I also hope Reinbacker stays healthy.

  8. The Dach trade was not a bad trade, it was an unlucky one when he injured his knee. I think he would have been a great power winger which is not a bad thing.

  9. No doubt Dach has struggled quite a bit but we forget how much Anderson and Gallagher struggled last season. Maybe he can bouce back next season with a fresh start. Look, he doesn't really have much value now so may as well see what happens. I like the idea of Dach and Demidov on the second line but not sure who will move from RW to LW. I agree with what Marco has to say bout Hage. I am not even sure if he will ever be a center in the NHL. I think his game is better suited at the wing. Good news is that are quite a few two way center for this years draft, many of them who should be available from 8th to 20th overall.

  10. Besides not having a 2nd line center, Habs don't have enough depth to enter the playoff. They should keep all their players besides Pezzetta, and trade for a centre and a right defenseman short to medium term. They can send Owen Beck back to Laval to finish the year.

  11. What is all the fuss over Kirby Dach? He is an injury waiting to happen.
Career totals: by the end of the current season, injuries will have caused him to miss 45% of his (2) teams' regular season games (52.5% of Habs' games) over 6 seasons – while scoring 0.45 points per game to go along with a career +/- of — 53.
This is simple folks; #1) What is his game? It doesn't appear to be scoring – defending – or winning faceoffs!
#2) Whether he plays centre or wing is irrelevant when a player cannot be counted on to be in the lineup – and, when he is in the lineup his productivity is replaceable without too much difficulty.

  12. Let Dach go, plain and simple …
    Why the wishful thinking ?
His overall performance since he's in the NHL speaks for itself. Sure he's got talent, but he's too soft, too fragile.
He's awful at winning puck battles and face-offs.
His compete, grit level leaves to be desired.
    Plus he lacks hockey I.Q.
    Let him go !
Montréal is not the best environment for him. Perhaps he can flourish elsewhere.
Oh yeah, and keep Evans 'n Armia, and acquire Dylan Cousins.
YAY GREAT NEWS, just learned KH signed Evans for 4 yrs @ 2.8M !!!

  13. Bandaid so is Guhle
    And to loose Romanov
    And a 1st costly mistake
    3rd line winger at best

  14. Dach is at a career crossroads , he could pivot and try to do what Anderson did, not a top 6 player but a very very good 3rd liner , you can't score like expectations fine, skate fast hit hard play fast , dach can still have a long NHL career , just in a different role .

  15. Chronically Fragile sorry Dach. Should be looking at a career change soon . Your not the 1st with a promissing career cut short .

  16. My last year hockey my coach was from Montreal and he went back to Quebec city to do some university while he was in Quebec city his back yard neighbour was Ron Hexall… I don’t know if this is just a coincidence… Because this guy the rumour is could’ve coached NHL… Anyways, he taught us how to play a system i that year we went 56-1-1 won everything… Dach would have been benched… no heart, no anything…. Amazing he got as far as he did

  17. The habs play better without him , Keep him for the reminder of his contract , but stop projecting him a 2nd line center , go get a real second line center , when Dach returns , treat him line a 4th liner and see if he progresses but don’t take away ice time from a prospect for Kirby Dach , that ship has sail

  18. The rebuilt is done , why you keep talking about rebuilt? Saying the habs are in a rebuilt would mean that they’re trading everyone including prospect to restart going by the draft . They have more prospects than they can keep , they have a core with the second youngest team in the league with 75% of the roster who are considered for the long term future of the team , the habs aren’t rebuilding , the rebuilt is done , the habs are building and tweaking

Like hugues said , he’s not interested in lateral moves and as it stands , the habs don’t even have the quarter of the room for the prospect they already have

The only option now is trade the few guys that don’t figure in the long term plans of the teams and replace him with impactful vets . The habs don’t need more prospects and they sure don’t need more picks , they need a talented center and a talented defenseman , that’s it

  19. Here’s is a fun fact , in their entire history , Montreal have never drafted a center man who was able to get at least 100pts ,not once !

  20. What is it with 3rd overalls and the Habs.
Galchenyuk, Drouin, Kotkaniemi and now Dach.
I bet if the Habs got Draisaitl, his production would immediately drop.

  21. Dach is a winger.
    Suzuki 1c w Cauf Slav
    Hage 2c w Demidov Dach
    Beck 3c w Laine Newhook
    Evans 4c w Kapanen F Xhekaj

  22. Kirby has to go. Sorry, he just can't do it with this rebuild.

Hutson is the Calder as a defenseman.

Laine is going to play with Ivan Demidov next year.
