Trent Frederic Traded to the Edmonton Oilers

Trent Frederic has been traded to the Edmonton Oiler along with Max Jones for a 2nd and 4th-round pick.

The Boston Bruins have only started when it comes to trades but this is the first domino to fall.

  1. That's a great haul for Frederick. Wow. I wasn't expecting them to get so much. If it were Edmonton's 2nd-rounder, I'd be less impressed.

  2. I like the return. Boston seems to do better in the 2nd round than they do in the first, so the more 2nd rounders the better! 🙂 Kidding; but…Freddie was not worth of a first round pick when he was drafted, and unloading Max Jones is a huge win. No idea about Wanner, but seems like just another young guy that may develop down the road.

  3. I liked Frederic, however, I'm not sure he is worth what he'll be asking for in his next contract. At least we didn't let him go for nothing.

  4. This move may benefit not only us but Frederic as well. He just seemed to not be himself this year. You were correct in saying he was not playing tough at all. He lost most of his board battles etc. Perhaps a change of scenery will reawaken what his assets are.
Decent haul I suppose. Drafts are always a crapshoot so who knows how that will go. To be honest the way Frederic was playing this year, he won't be missed and we are no weaker with him gone. A sad fact really.
I would like to move Korpisalo if teams are interested. First off I think he has done well but clearly Swayman is our #1. Korpisalo doing well may inflate his price to a team that wants a veteran backup for a playoff run. I do however understand the reluctance to snatch away DiPietro from Providence right now with him being their #1 and playoffs closing in but Providence is there for the Bruins. Moving Korpisalo frees up 3 million more. Best do it now before the off season when his price would drop.

  5. Us Bruins fans are very sentimental when it comes to trading players. But it was time. They need to move on from a lot more. Including Marchand.
Glad they got rid of the albatross that is Max Jones. They're other albatross, E. Lindholm, will be unmovable.

  6. Thanks, but please let us know what the cap savings is with moves next time. We can go look, but think it is just a good addition.

  7. Unfortunately Jamie Langenbrunner is still in place, Bruins keep making odd, out of sequence draft picks that haven't worked out.

  8. Surprisingly solid deal. I’ll miss the player we thought Freddy could be, but we can’t afford to wait for him. Jones leaving is a bonus, as the front office needs to cut the fat from this team. Let’s just hope the Bruins don’t waste these picks on wishful thinking—we’ve seen where that’s gotten us.

  9. GOOD!!!🙂👍
Frustrating to watch. 3rd line guy should be at least a mid range scorer, physical. He was to a certain extent last and as he was heading towards being an UFA I thought I'd see upscale in his play…..nope. Totally the other way.Invisible for the most part. I saw more from Kastelic and Koepke on the 4th line.
Like the draft picks plus dumping Max Jones.

Oilers are a soft team. Least physical in the League. If they're getting Frederic to bounce bodies around and fight….he better "up" his play or else they'll be disappointed.

  10. Right shot D Man 👍

Phew! They traded Freddy to the Western conference… I still don't want to play against him.

    I foggottabout Jones.

    Thanks Court!
    👍

  11. At least Sweeney didn't allow him to walk for nothing like he did with JDB last summer. This time the Bruins got needed commodities in return. Freddy was drafted as a center, his natural position but with the Bruins having the likes of Bergie, Krejci and Kuraly there during his time, he never got a real shot at playing in the middle. When this guy was on his game, he was an impactful player. The problem was being consistent with it. Impactful for one game, invisible for five.

  12. Fire Sweeney! What does it take to show ownership? He is not capable of running this team. If he stays, it will be more of the same time to move on.
