  1. Cats fan here: sad to see knight go. Like reaaaallly sad. But we’ll be fine. I’m a big fan of what Cooper Black could become, and we have Chris Driedger who will probably be the backup now. Seth Jones definitely will fit in the system, and would work super well under Maurice. I’m excited for more solid d work and to have a solid right shot defenseman but I’m upset that knight won’t be in sunrise anymore

  2. As a panthers fan, I like this trade. I feel like this is gonna be just like the Chucky one where the hockey world says we get fleeced but end up on top of the trade. Knight deals with OCD issues and didn’t even play a single game the year we won the cup. And Seth Jones is good defensemen on a bad team. I think he will finally shine on a team like Florida. I like knight, but the issues he’s had isn’t worth $4.5M. Plus, Chicago holding $2.5M of jones contract for the next 5 years is huge. Go ahead and say we got fleeced, let this be another Chucky trade.

  3. If Spencer knight doesn’t have any more real personal issues (I am NOT knocking him for this) then he has some crazy upside. Only 23 which is insanely young for a goalie and has always had average goaltender numbers is just insanely impressive. If the hawks don’t ruin him he will probably be at least an above average starter

  4. If the Panthers don’t re-signed Ekblad they are back to only having one Right shot defenseman. Also given that Ekblad is actually younger than Seth Jones and can actually play defense it would be shortsighted to not keep that top 4 core together til the wheels fall off

  5. The Panthers have drafted a goalie every year for the last 6 years. I suspect they’ll do the same thing again this year to replace Knight.

  6. Great video, finally someone talks cap. S.Jones at 7m is different than at 9.5m.
For FLA, they did give up their future goalie, as Bob only has one more season left.
But also Ekblad is UFA and having S.Jones is an insurance.
For 7m you can run him as 2nd pair anchor, and that´s not bad at all.
CHI got a goalie and a trade was necessary, they don`t like the dead cap but at 9.5. S. Jones had no value.
I think it is a good trade.

  7. Seth jones is not worth of Spencer Knight..hes below avarage defenseman with 0 motivation ..this was VERY BAD trade.

  8. The Panthers keep going to bad teams and taking good players who have been used as if they were superheroes and then putting them in a role they actually fit and it keeps working.

  9. Panthers fan here. Everybody raves about forsling-ekblad(rightfully so) but mikkola-kulikov is very sneakily one of the best d pairs in the league. They don't do a lot of flashy stuff, just very quietly go about their jobs and also murder anything that dares to go near the crease. Add that to mikkola becoming very capable offensively this season and I don't see them being split. Uvis balinskis is becoming your fairly standard "good at everything great at nothing" 3rd pair guy, which leaves the captain of team "what do you do here" nate schmidt as the odd one out. I'd expect Jones to start next to balinskis, as well as get some special teams time

  10. A former decorated member of the United States Marine Corps needs your help…

AND HIS NAME IS JOHN CENA!!!

  11. The high stick should have been called but if he didnt flop like a goddam fish and take out his d partner, Danforth probably doesn't get that good of a look.

  12. As a Panthers fan, I am fine with it, just think we over paid. Jones is on a bad contract, has expressed disinterest in being in Chicago, and said he only wanted to come here. I feel we had all the leverage. If we were going to give them a first, I would have liked 40% – 50% retention. Or offer a second rounder to keep that first.

That aside, I think this will help a lot. Come the playoffs, Spencer is useless unless Bobby gets hurt. I expect Jones’ defense to improve playing alongside actual NHL players and for a contender. But he’ll also help the power play and offense a s whole. With Chucky going on LTIR presumably until round 1, I would have liked to have that first to spend it on an expiring forward. I trust Bill Zito though

  13. 0:33 Not first time in his career. First time in over 20 years and it pissed me off. Not because he turned but because Jey Uso didn't come out and save Cody Rhodes. And Cena joined the Rock which just feels wrong

  14. Finally some good business from the Blackhawks! Knight is a super goalie, and the defence he’s going to be playing behind will be better because Jones won’t be on it. Now use the first round pick to get a decent, Established winger to help Connor Bedard
