QUESTION OF THE DAY — What Is YOUR Reaction To The Seth Jones Trade?!
Love it. I had a love/hate relationship with Jones, but his public comments from a player wearing an A were poisonous, so he needed to go. Curious to see what this week holds.
Donato and a 2rd pick for nate danielson
Very pleased with the results of Seth Jones's trade. Received a potential future average net minder; conditional 2026 1st rd. Pick (to add to the draft pool); and only weretain 2.5 million dollars of Jones remaining 9.5 million dollar salary. 👍
Crazy good value for that trade. Its a trade I can see both clubs winning in the end. Rounding out your top 4 with Jones where he doesn't have to be THE guy at $7mil is pretty darn good. He'll definitely help the Panthers move towards the cup.
For our team, wow. I thought for sure to get a 1st rounder and a prospect of any sort would require Jones 50% retained plus whatever picks. 25% on a cap rising as much and quickly as it will be is nothing. And to get a 1st rounder with a prospect of Knight's caliber in the most position in hockey is just insanely good. I often compare the Hawks and the Sharks in terms of what they've got for pieces and when the Sharks got their future goalie from the preds in Askorov, I thought how lucky they were to have that piece already and how we weren't sure of the goalie position on our end. Commesso should be alright, but not like whats being said of Askorov. Now, however, I think Knight throws us into the same conversation. This guy has that potential and to have him at thid point in his career is awesome. He'll grow with the rest of the boys and I think you're going to see everything pop off pretty darn close together with our prospects and overall competitiveness. I almost hope that pick slates in for 2027 so it can get flipped for some good veterans at the dealine next year, or sooner. Damn good trade by KD. Here's hoping our defense doesn't ruin Knight's confidence, because those good numbers you mentioned are probably going to take a dip now for this season and maybe the next one or two haha. But it's all coming together and I am here for it.
Also a Jones defender here, disappointed at the whole going public thing.
Getting essentially two first round picks from basically the only team that Jones would go to is somewhat amazing.
You never know about goalies, but Knight is an interesting case, possible boom or bust kinda deal.
If nothing else, this should cause the K.D. haters out there to shut their pie holes for a few days.
So the Hawks are carrying three goalies?
Can they risk waiving Soderbloom?
Do they want to insult Mrazek?
???
Depends on what is offered for Donato.
He is the type of player that you hope to get with a low second or third round pick, and a proven commodity at that.
Reichel is the same age as Lafreniere who has been up with the Rangers for most of his career since being drafted, and has been called a bust until recently when he has started to show his ability. Remember these were the "COVID" kids who had their development stunted bu the pandemic.
Just sayin…
The Blackhawks won the Jones tradeby getting rid of a Cancer in the locker. You can't have a vet, an assistant captain, saying to the media. Basically, this team has sucked as long as I've been here and is going to continue to suck. Especially when there's pieces of the future right there. After the Jones trade, Davidson should have gone into the locker room and asked if thete was anyone else who didn't want to be there.
Yes, Jones said when he came to Chicago he didn't want to be part of a rebuild. But he should be a big boy and know nothing is guaranteed in life. He hot paid money worthy 9f a Norris trophy winner, yet his play waa below average. Good Riddence.
I’m pretty pleased with the Jones trade. It restores some faith in KD, which for me has been wavering.
I think Reichel would benefit from a veteran coach that knows what he's doing. The entire team would. It's been too many years experimenting with inexperienced coaches. Top priority at season's end.
Question for Mailbag: Which FA should we target 1July with 7mil/yr X 5yrs that Hawks save by trading Jones?
Murphy is definitely marketable but we need a veteran, good character, rt handed defenseman to mentor rt handed d-men Levshunov, Rinzel, and Crevier especially now that Jones is gone.
Now Florida has Jones, who will they have a tough time resigning?
You forgot to mention Knight won gold at the World Juniors in 2021, and a shutout in the gold medal game.
