Three years and four million as a cap hit is reasonable for Gudbranson. I hope he can stay healthy for a majority of this contract, but it’s decent. I know not everyone agrees though.

Zack McEwen has been a really good player for the Comets. Not bad for a CHL Free agent!
Trent Cull has used 46 players this year and the Comets are 5th in the AHL.

You think you are frustrated with Vancouver losing players for nothing. I have followed the Maple Leafs since the late 70s. They have never played in the Stanley cup final since before expansion. Vancouver has had nothing like coach John brophy the man who the bad guy in slap shot was based on. Or how about trading Tom kurvers for the draft choice that would turn into Scott niedemeyer. Or Russ Cortnall being traded for John Kordic. Or how about Scotty bowman phoning John Ferguson junior and asking him if bowman could come to Toronto and help out and Ferguson saying nope we don’t need you we got it. I can sit down and complain all the bloody time about the pinhead leaf management. I also blame the idiot leaf sports pundits. Who demanded the return of Wendell to Toronto because that would turn the leafs around. Iwill save that one for later. However I am hopeful since Lou the guy on the other side of the Kurvers for Niedemeyer Trade is running the show.

Honestly I thought it would be more money for less term but with no-trade clauses. Great job to keep flexibility in the organization. If a prospect forces him out then Benning can trade him then. Cap is at a level where he can afford to include 1-2 per to help a trade. Cap is low enough and short enough to be bought out if needed. Finally it is a great value contract if he continues his current play for an extended time. Personally I think he stays for the entire duration of his contract unless he's taken in expansion.
I think it's a good deal especially if they are dealing tanev. This vid really extenuates why you rule shannon
I'm pretty thrilled as a Leafs fan that the Canucks opted to sign Gudbranson… so now everyone can stop attempting to link us to him via trade. As for what it actually means in Vancouver… I agree it's not a big deal. Gudbranson's value wasn't going to be all that much, and it's not like Vancouver is competing in the next couple years.
Good signing I woulda tried to bring his salary down just a bit keep him at his current 3.5 because if he doesnt work out atleast his contract is a bit more cap friendly. But kids still young still time to grow

Happened upon this video again almost 2 years later and I have to vent on something I've been thinking for months…… I NEVER heard any love for Botchford when he was alive. Now that the guy is dead, everybody wants to pretend like he was this amazing person that everybody loved. Why? Because he died? Um, okay…… Wasn't he known as a super negative, pompous ass? When I die, I hope people point out all my faults and bad qualities, and represent me in a realistic light. I don't wan't people pretending I was this perfect and amazing person. I'm flawed as fuck. I also believe in being genuine and real. So yeah, when I'm gone, I hope those that knew me, represent me accurately. I'm a good person for the most part, but I'm not perfect. Honestly this Botchford love fest is sickening. People die, it's natural…. doesn't mean we have to be phony about it.
