Canucks-Blues Game 3 preview: who comes in for Tyler Myers (Benn, Chatfield, Rafferty)?

With Tyler Myers likely to be out tonight, I talk about possible replacements for him on the blue line: Jordie Benn, Jalen Chatfield, and Brogan Rafferty.

  1. I don't think Benn comes in because he didn't participate in the training camp. I think they will start Juolevi on the right. Though it's very "non Travis like" but I think that might be the move. If I had to pick from the three in the title, I'd pick Rafferty for sure!
That being said, any of the defensemen coming in will likely have low ice time compared to the other 2 right side dmen.

  2. Honestly in my opinion, this may be bias against the blues because im a stars fan but Vancouver will likely get a 3-0lead in the serise due to the fact that binnington is looking a little rusty and you all have great scorers like horvat

  3. Man, the defense, already a bit anemic, is even thinner with Myers out. Top 4 will have to step up and hopefully no one else gets injured. Benn's experience and size will definitely help against those Blues forwards, but his lack of speed might prove to be a detriment, and he won't have his "game legs". I might be inclined to go with Rafferty or Juolevi.

Those post-game comments might be indicative of why the Blues are behind 2-0. There's an undercurrent of disrespect in some of those comments and I'm glad I'm not the only one who picked up on it. Hey the Blues are the champs so maybe they think every team is beneath them until someone knocks them out.

  4. i would put in jolevi…join the young great players we have… but i want to talk about jolevi…. maybe coach green will agree with me … we'll see lol

  5. Hey Clay! Fantenberg could move to the right and OJ could come in as the bottom pairing left side, and as OJ has played already, this is my best guess for tonight, that OJ gets the call.
    .
And it's a huge win for Benning if so, street cred, a lot riding on the possibility.
    .
Benn is a good second guess! But we pretty much know he's not a good defenceman, while OJ could be a star, and he's here now; it's his time to shine, no?

  6. Bit of reverse psychology I think. It's like a boxer who's getting badly beaten up and he gets back to his corner and the cornerman is like you're doing great he's got nothing left…go get him. The cornerman is doing what he has to do to try and pump his fighter up. Frankly the last thing a discouraged Blues Team needs to hear from their coach is how good the Canucks are playing.

  7. Do we officially no Myers is out? I know it looked bad but we haven’t been told he’s out have we?

If we had to pick one i think Benn. He will bring the playoff like hockey we need.

  8. Canucks need to put their foot down on their opponent's throat. That's something they've rarely done in past playoffs.

  9. The Blues are scared, desperate and as we witnessed last game staring to play dirty. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a bunch of cheap shots and late hits in tonight's game.

  10. its obvious st louis doesnt think that we are in the same league as them. This is overconfidence not a case of saying the wrong thing time to slap these guys into their senses the quicker st louis gets booted out of the playoff the better yes they won last year and they should be expected to be a good team but they had breaks too and should not take things for granted like they seem to. Time to blow them out and really put them under pressure.

  11. Benn is probably the best choice in terms of blue line experience.. but i really wanna see Rafferty

  12. I listened to the whole game from the nhl site with Vancouver radio. commercials suck but yours are way better than here. This might go to 6 or 7.
