The Chicago Blackhawks traded defenseman Seth Jones to the Florida Panthers. The Blackhawks received goaltender Spencer Knight and a conditional first-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft. SJ is a very good player and I never agreed with the hate and I hope he gets his cup. But honestly today I am over the moon with the return, and the minimal retention of salary. Great trade for both sides.

Didn't hate Jones. Just hated his contract, and not crazy about the way he dragged this all into the media. I'm just glad I don't have to hear about him anymore, because I am beyond sick of the pissing and moaning about him.
So long to Seth and his horrid attitude. Now retire 4 for Hjalmarsson and play the kids.

IMO this is a way better return than normal. This was a goalie that was looked at as a goalie of the future and he never really got off to a great start to his career and then entered himself into the rehab program for whatever he was struggling with that wasn’t an injury. If he has that put behind him and now has a fresh start he could be a great player for the core and really push for that #1 job with Commesso. Knight & Soderblom next season is fine by me

So happy Jones is gone. Outside of the contract, his play has been atrocious. He didn't lead in the locker room, and clearly spent more energy trashing this org than putting effort on the ice. No well wishes from Jones, he doesn't deserve it.

The Athletic said based on his play this season Jones was worth something like 3.8 million dollars. This is a win for the Blackhawks. Jones is not a leader.
9.5M/year for a defenseman who absolutely doesn't like contact & never takes the puck into the zone deep or stick up for other teamates?? Who gives that person a huge,long-term contract?? Wtf.
