The point production hasn’t been there, but he’s been the best player on the ice for the Canes. And I can promise Tulsky has a plan B for the roughly $40M in cap space available if Rantanen walks.
Also, all this talk about “you had Necas under contract” is hilariously misguided. Necas is an unrestricted free agent in 16 months. He previously requested a trade and rejected multiple long-term contract offers (Drury requested a trade too BTW). The only deal Necas was willing to take this past summer was a bridge to burn his remaining RFA years. Necas was gone in 16 months no matter what and they sold as high as possible on him.
TBH, knowing how misinformed you guys are on this makes me question everything you guys say. Do you guys go any homework at all before you hit record?
