  1. Fantastic conversation. Great to hear MEV’s take on changes in hockey over the years. A huge part of Sharks history.

  2. Lmao Pickles would be amazing on the pre game show. I think he would fit better as a frequent guest instead of the main guy, his banter seems to work well bouncing off other people instead of leading. Which means a Brodie and Vlasic pairing would be perfect actually!

  3. Man I'm gonna miss this dude the day he retires. Insane how I've been watching this dude as a guppy and he's still kicking it in the league

  4. I get why people traditionally play as a left shot. Stronger hand on top which=stronger reach+a more relaxed bottom hand.

  5. I feel like Pickles just loves everything about the Sharks. Absolute legend of the game and an icon of the Franchise

  6. This is the most personality I've seen from Pickles in a long long time! Love it! MEV will always be one of my favorite Dmen in Sharks history, and I'm glad he at least seems happier now, and hopefully can help nurture our young pups into contenders again!

  7. Hey Brodie,
My guy Marc Eduard! What pleasure it has been to watch Marc's career in San Jose. If anyone is Mr. Shark it's Marc. I mean he has like Patty been around and seen so much in the course of his remarkable career. Personally I am still pissed that Marc never got consideration for the Norris particularly during 2015-16 and 2017-18 I think those two years really stand out because Marc was still arguably the best defensive defensemen in the world at that time and added a good chunk of offense on top of his remarkable defensive acumen.

I don't know if it will happen but, I think Marc Eduard deserves consideration for the Hall of Fame at some point. Unfortunately it does not look like he will get a ring in the NHL but, he holds two gold medals for Team Canada from the Olympics and the World Cup. I think this speaks very loudly about how dominant a defender he was that Team Canada selected him among all the Canadian defensemen they have to pick from.

My favorite Marc Eduard moment? One broadcast they had Marc miked up and it just so happened that Marc scored a goal in that game of the flying Bobby Hull variety coming down as a trailer on the left side of the net and scored a spectacular goal that brought the crowd to their feet as Marc careened into the end boards and his teammates swarmed him. What did Marc say? The first thing he said was: "Did you see that speed boys?" hahahaha It makes me smile every time I think on it.

Thanks Brodie for this fun conversation with Mr. Vlassic. And Marc Eduard…thank you for all the thrills over the decades that you proudly wore the teal. Whenever you decide to hang 'em up I think it will be a very long time before we see your like in San Jose again and fans like me who remember you with great fondness will talk wistfully about the days when Marc Eduard Vlassic patrolled the blue line in San Jose and put the fear of god into opposing players.

  8. Vlasic (and Braun) were incredible in the 2016 playoffs, LA was a pushover and then they completely removed Forsberg, then Tarasenko, and to a lesser extent Crosby from each series forward. The HBK line turned out to be the kryptonite, I always thought Crosby getting the Conn Smythe over Kessel was a joke. Couture would have had it in the bag if Sharks won though.

  9. Interviewed MEV a lot over the years, but it had been a while since the last time. Long overdue. I always appreciate his receptiveness to open up and chat with me. As he once said… (probably in 2011) "if you want good answers, ask me good questions". so I've always been inspired by that.
