Probably zero chance Rantanen stays in Vancouver, and in order to make a fluke run with him as a rental, they'd have to a lot more than just get him. Esp. when they're trading away their so-called top center.

I can't believe Petey has just disappeared like he has since he signed his contract last season—-since then he has been a major disappointment.He is probably the most "underachieving" player in the entire league.I have watched games this season where he should be centering the 4th line and killing penalties.Give him less than 9 minutes a game as payback for going awol.He has turned into a head case and Canucks need to get what they can—-he is no longer a rising star with Vancouver.

the report is : carolina has officially offered rantanen 12.5 a year……but if he thinks its not enough theyre willing to go up to 14m. thats the official report. Now carolina has a drastic lower tax rate than vancouver……which means if carolina is willing to offer up to 14m to rantanen……because vancouvers tax rate is higher theyd have to offer like 15-16m just so the money matches carolina because vancouvers taxes are higher.
theres also the fact that it got reported that rantanen was super upset and told colorado he wouldve taken a massive paycut to remain in colorado- the possibility of him just waiting till hes a UFA and signing back in colorado as a FA at a deal of a contract is a REAL possibility.
Petey needs a new home! He can't handle the scrutiny of the Vancouver market…he succeeds when things are quiet…
Rantinan looks a bit lost without MacKinnon in Carolina and may not sign. I would not either if I couldn't settle in. He wants term and big$$$$, so he needs a good fit to beloved by whoever he signs with. He won't want to be an internet trollee for years to come.

Marchand is that player who can increase a playoff team's chances dramatically. He'll improve the PP,PK fore checking, create space, draw penalties and get the big goals. He did get off to a slow start because he took care of the necessaries and got three procedures done, so he could not do the routine "get in shape" stuff that top professionals stay on. 🏒

Petterson showed up to camp outta shape 💪 and from what i have herd and know about working out you cant use the season to condition you all the gains are made in the off season. So Petterson didn't put in any work all summer and now its shows

Although everyone is saying Petey is the 1 centre, he has been playing like an uninterested person. If he wasn’t making the money he is Tocc would have healthy scratched him by now. There is no excuse for not working hard. Even if snakebit you can still look like you care. Skate hard, hit, shoot. He just so invisible most games If they lose him for nothing in the Rantanen trade , at least u have unloaded the money. All the points the team has in the standings have been achieved with a fourth line Petey anyways. It’s so frustrating to watch him pass the puck to someone off to the side of the slot when he has the puck right in the middle of the slot. Shoot. Stop passing. Shoot. I would trade EP40 to anyone who wants him and that huge contract. From outsider looking in the guy look like a 3rd Line center at best. I don’t know if he is injured , out of shape or just can’t handle the pressure but his play is unacceptable for a guy making $5 million let alone $11
